Been seeing a few real nice vintage helis lately wouldn't mind picking up/rebuilding one or two, In your opinion what vintage heli would have the most parts availability?

if its a MA heli, you can have heliproz whip up parts for it.

Heliproz could not "whip up" an MA0294 for me. I had to make one from a JRP960222 AND you can't get those anymore either.

Personally I'd stay away from the vintage birds. You'll end up with more invested in that, than in a new model.

SHOULD MOVED THIS TO VINTAGE FORUM

Personally I'd stay away from the vintage birds. You'll end up with more invested in that, than in a new model.
I agree with you if someone is looking to acquire a "cheap" discontinued model with the purpose of everyday flying. That could become very costly.

However

For vintage collectors and pilots, a vintage heli model is a piece of history in their life which value and meaning goes well beyond reasons of performance, availability, and cost.

If you have not been in this hobby for more than 15 years, you will not understand. Is similar reasoning why some folks will drive a 67 Camaro over a new one.

BTW
An N9 is not vintage by any means. Discontinued? Yes. Vintage? HELL NO.

If that was the case, every one year old or older align would be vintage.

Many a time I've thought about purchasing a Concept 30DX, which was the helicopter on which I learned to fly well. Parts availability and the need to convert it to FBL has lessened that desire.

It would be easier to step into a Gaui NX4 than support the Concept concept....although I own a nicely equipped machine shop I would rather fly than make heli parts.

I happened to luck out and acquired both the DX and SR for restore and the project is going well, thankfully parts are still around from certain sources if that's your desire. Resale for those machines is incredible but not really if ya luck out thru different search sources, anythings out their if ya look hard enuff

But why in heavens would you want to convert a Concept 30 to fbl?
(besides for the provervial "cus you want to"

It can be done, but it would be a one of a kind special project that will need custom made parts, lots of work, adapting, and lots of TLC to preserve the Kyosho sections. That is the nature of the beast.

If the purpose is to have a 30size fun machine again and want modern electronics, then the little NX4 is calling your name.

You could still get a Concept 30 while you can, and slowly restore it.

Nothing says you can't have both.

I own an original Schluter Miniboy (a 1980 50size brick) which I fly about twice a year, old mechanical gyro and all. I also own a Raptor x50 fbl which is the modern flip side of the Miniboy. I enjoy both and Im lucky to have them.

Would never dream of modernizing the Miniboy. Well, for now...

Synergy N9 is older than one year and nowhere close to Align . Vintage if you can't find parts and still is better quality than most new models .

I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

Yeah, I know how old an N9 is. I saw Jason Krause fly it for the 1st time at the 2005 Jamboree.
Did not say it was 1 year old, I said is discontinued, and then made fun of align.
And yes, I agree Synergy is a very good quality model.

IMO a discontinued model does not make it vintage, but sure makes it a nightmare to maintain.

Older than 15years, that's vintage.

Like Santiago said, quite a bit, mostly getting rid of the mechanical mixing for starters, I'd guess.

TSK Bling

Yes, there were IT when it came to bling, but they were functional as well.

You could take a TSK main or tail rotor head, hang it to a BIG gold chain and every rapper would die of jelousy. LOL
