Well - after waiting for some time I received shipping notice today that my HD500 Cell (standing for HeliDesign) has been shipped. Its the first shipment getting out for that new brand heli.

Looking forward to the build and maiden of this 500 size machine.

+1, Good luck on the build, anxious to hear about this model. Might give the G500 a good run for the money.

HD...huh?

What us the deal with this new heli manufacturer? This 500 Cell is there 1st product, right?
What class/category would you guts put them in terms of quality, robustness? Are they "cheap & dirty", are they Blade-like, Goblin-like, what?
Do they have some distinguishing feature or concept?

The HD 500 Cell has a cellular architecture or design feature.
It was designed in Germany (I think) by some really intelligent guys.
I met them at IRCHA.
Milled from a single block of aluminum using a Hermle 5 axis machine, the cellular core of the machine aligns the main shaft and drive components, clamps the tail boom, and holds the servos and motor.

Really innovative. And with this size machine, the core may well be nearly indestructible.

Its a really cool looking design. Hope they scale it up to 600 and 700 size. I really like the idea of a gearless drive train.

This is their first heli and it only has one distributor in the states. Parts are super expensive and I am having Shape flashbacks.

Looks nice, but unless you are WAY past the crashing stage and fly conservatively, putting that thing in looks like a $650 500 size re-kit.

Oh WAIT! I thought you were describing the Goblin.....

First helicopter from SAB
One distributor in the USA
Parts are super expensive....

Just saying, perspective counts.....

If it proves to be worthy, it will be a success....

Thanks for some of the kind replies. I really appreciate those.

The once trying to make it sound bad before they even have any idea - well thanks for your comments but hey - you can try talking a good product down but it still stays a good product.

Have to see if I should consider putting pictures at this forum or not since its not worth time getting bashed and have folks try to down talk excitement of hobbyists that want one thing only - enjoy the hobby and share some good experience.

Still thanks for the comments.

BTW -> for the very smart person saying only one shop selling it -> its 2 online shops in the US selling it and not one. So please at least try to be honest. Also about the price -> its similar priced to other products such as Goblin 500 or Logo 480 while it runs same blade size as G500 and therefore is a true 500 size heli.

all sentiments aside - since there are most likely a few who are interested in some new helicopter on the market here are the pictures from unpacking. Lets keep in mind - those folks have been working on heli designs before. They actually had a great idea for a new 500 size machine and ... pulled it off within a year time. Thats something others have not been able to accomplish and I am still amazed how well they did so far. The heli has been on display at IRCHA and actually they took some good advice from their discussions with other pilots increasing blade size to allow up to 515 mm blades.
Also its not ultra light weight - this machine is less heavy than some of their competitors. The full belt driven unit will be whisper quite and allow you to hear motor and blade noise only. I am hooked by their innovative design and first glance looks like quality is great too. The build will start this Afternoon.

It's just a heli bro and you've had it for a day.

Why not wait till you've built it and put it in the air before telling people how well it flies.

im4711, keep the pictures coming, this is a unique heli

noobyflyer - tone it down, he spent his hard earned money on a heli and is kind enough to share it with us. It would be a shame if your negative comments causes him or others to decides not to make posts like this.

I agree with IM. I have seen this heli in person and it is very well built, and the design appears to be fantastic for durability. When I had the chance to see it fly it is very quiet, and has a wide head speed envelope compared to most in this size. Seeing the nice packaging is the icing on the cake.

What???? It comes with a chocolate Santa???? I'm buying one!

Thanks for posting the pics. Even though I have no interest in this, it's always good to see a new model on the market. More competition is good for the consumer!

OK - heli almost finished. Need to go through the pictures and will post first progress tomorrow (Saturday). Build overall went easy and for a new heli on the market it actually went very well. A few minor things I noticed have been more related to servo horns I used. So no show stopper but inconvenient since the BK Servo horns are a bit thick and pushed me adding a few more spacer plates under the elevator servo to get the ball line up nice and clean. Worked out fine.

Will possibly make some comments when getting to the pictures and later maiden video.

For all in doubt - Quality was so far best for any heli I build with the exception of TDR and Diabolo. I have tried most brands so far. This looks very promising. Will see about flight characteristics but as it always is - those are based on your own settings. So based on design I expect it to be good.
