All out of stock in the UK.

Looking at the pricing of the full combo looks a good deal. Whichever way round you make the calculation on the individual parts costs it looks good to me.

doesnt seem like the 480 deserves to be named in the "xxtreme" line in which the 700-800 feature all new parts with metal heads and tails. I feel this could be called a logo 500sx-carbon edition cause only the frames are completely different from the logo 500 as well as a miniature xxtreme canopy. its still a cool heli but to me just doesnt seem like it is following the same lineage direction with full metal and full carbon as the two big boys, just my opinion not that it means diddly squat.

Maybe they didn't do a metal head for the 480 because it doesn't need one and the 700/800 did. Big difference in blade size.

I don't know why everyone seems to think plastic helis are so light. Here's a breakdown I did on 2 helis. The ancillaries make as much a difference.
It makes sense too...aluminum actually has a higher strength to weight than plastic.

Mikado cleans up the comps every year and for good reason aside from good pilots. They make helis that fly well that dont need much attention. Several helis with gobs of metal and CF need 10X more attention to keep in the air, so guess German plastic is doing pretty good "still". You don't have to be a brain surgeon to view the forums and look for all the issues threads and there is lack of that in Mikado forums. The ones who say this and that have likley never built and flown a Mikado heli to even know so thats that typical talk out yer a$$ stuff going on there. As usual....

I suggest to those that havent owned a Logo, next time near one LOOK at the plastic, it ain't some century heli plastic crap or align plastic, it is FAR different. I have yet to hear or see of one plastic blade grip fail EVER..

...Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

I started with Hirobo and I have found Mikado plastic to be of a similar type. It holds a thread, it is very rigid and it wears very well.

Hirobo came to my mind as soon as I read some of these comments about plastic parts. I believe staying with plastic parts while most other manufacturers switched to carbon and aluminum was one of the reasons for Hirobo,s downfall of popularity here in the states.

Plastic helis ARE lighter, they just are.

I wouldn't say aluminium is stronger than a good carbon plastic, they just have different strengths.

Aluminium bends and stays bent, plastic bends but bends straight back again but at the extreme will break, I like to think of this as sacrificial as the plastic parts are WAY cheaper than machined aluminuim parts!

So you have lightness, cheaper parts and when designed correctly like Mikado do rigidity aswell.

Other light plastic helis include:

ElyQ Vision 50
Protos 500 (plastic frame version)
Aligns Trex 500 with the plastic head and tail parts.

60% of the time, it works every time!

Nope, I believe it was lack of models and expensive parts!

But I guess there is some truth in people wanting shiny metal and space aged carbon, just for the look more than anything else.

Hirobos plastic was second to none, it made Mikado's plastic look cheap!

60% of the time, it works every time!

I neve said the plastic was bad, but rather the xxtreme line to me was I guess something else, something different from the others, all carbon and metal no compromises. They already have plastic helis which fly fine. Why even make carbon and metal if the plastic flies perfectly fine for everything. It's not a prob and more of a semantics thing to me. It's a great Heli the 480 but to me is just not an xxtreme it's just a carbon framed 500sx pretty much.
