Alright guys, so this is my first time in this sub forum, and I am a total newbie to AP.

I'm looking to get a ship together, but I don't want to jump straight into the deep end and spend a fortune... I just want something that'll be enough to 'wet my feet.'

Now, I'm wondering if the Naza v2 is a good starting platform, keeping in mind that I might want to do video as well as stills. I plan to use it on a Tarot fy680 airframe.

Any thoughts/tips on this combo (or anything else that you think I should know) would be gratefully appreciated.

I think you'll find more good info than bad on the naza. As autopilots go it's pretty much the standard by which others are judged. You should consider what camera you're going to fly and base your frame, motor, and gimbal to support that imo.

My ap is limited to key chain cameras and gopro footage. I don't have the need or desire to fly my nikon. So my h quad or A550 will carry more than enough payload for me.

If you want to go cheap! check out the guys at http://WWW.flitetest.com. they got a simple H quad that flies great and holds a GoPro nice. BTW the give the plans out for free.

Thanks guys.

I plan on just using a gopro setup initially, and maybe something like the Sony nex 5/7 later on. This size hexa should be adequate enough to carry a nex, right?

By the way, I was looking at this combo (for the crazy price), but I'm not too sure about those electronics. Are these trustworthy, or do you guys recommend for me to buy the airframe kit only, and chose my own motor and ESCs?

And what sort of props?

That infinity setup should carry any prosumer camera you're willing to send aloft. Not far from my 550 quad setup fwiw.

For props many brag about graupner e props squeezing the last few electrons of efficiency when you can find them and are willing to pay. APC's have been good for me without chucking an occasional blade like the gemfans have on 4s and a full house load. When the watt meter tells you the setup is good maybe then you can buy carbon and or carbon filled props imo but they break too..

@ Chucky777 you have released the crakin! I built a couple of those h quads and one is in the back of my truck right now. Flying by wire has never been more fun and useful when you need it to be. It's my fav mr and I have...more than I need. GoPro/ 808 keychain cam it doesn't care.
Strip it down and see how many flips you can do under 50'! Did I mention it was fun?

Merry Christmas and the best of whats left to all

I went with the air-frame kit only, and am going to go with some Sunnysky motors and SimonK flashed ESCs.
Thanks for the help, and Merry Christmas to you too!
