If you want a heli that is very fast and has an absolutly stunning cnaopy this is the one for you.

Don't even think about 3D with this heli...(assuming Ramon's Diabolo S is identical to the rest being released) there is some weight at the tip of the canopy to balance the heli...if you do even a stall turn you may eject the front canopy!

After Ramon one stall turn during a test flight we noticed that the canopy just started to pull away from its mounting points. The canpy uses bullet connector like contact to mount the canopy to the tail section.

Also, the heli is heavier due to the large motor, large packs, large ESC, canopy wight, and beefed up tail boom. This thing is made for one thing, penetrating sky and going fast and it is stupid fast.

Go to 3:28 and you will see the canopy seperated from the tail section. Make sure to watch in HD

Hey Carlo,
The production model has a much lighter fuselage that should not require any ballast, and Gerd might have changed the nose connection with a more positive latch.

We won't know until they get here.

I'll post photos once I get mine.

I'll find a way to keep the canopy on.. This is probably going to be my go-to heli. This and the Diabolo.. In what ever stage it is in. I have the 800+ kit on the way for it, i still need to get blades for that ... Hmm.. Shopping time again! Eventually it will be an 800 triple.
Back to the topic at hand.. I probably won't be doing pyro flips or anything .. But some soft 3d and big air is going down for sure.

That's awesome! Mine is not quite like that, however, she is gun shy from me buying Jeep parts, so she just doesn't ask anymore.

She usually doesn't care, or at least, has shown little interest in all the packages that show up around here all the time. But she knew I had my eye on this and didn't know I was going to get it. I told her I had to, they are only making 50 and I couldn't miss out.

My wife said she thought I should slow down after I told her about the TDR.

I did spend a lot on toys this year ~32K on a Jeep, and somewhere between 10K & 15K on helis...she says that's enough in one year for a retired guy on Social Security.

However, after that she said I should buy this TRex 450 from my friend as a Christmas present for myself...it was a smokin deal...as I told her.

The 450 will be replacing my 130 as an outdoor sim.

I thought about a 450 for an outdoor sim too.. but I feel like even a 450 needs a little bit of space.I have a half acre back yard and it gets small with the 130x.The 130 isn't perfect, but for a machine that you can crash the crap out of and pick back up and fly, it is pretty damn good. I threw my last one away. lol.. and my next one will be here next week. ha! thought I was done with them. : )

Yup, I went backwards, and bought an mcpx recently. after a few crashes, it's become a pain in the ass to fly since it's developed a random twitch now, but I still like flying it. Something like that makes you better, and after planting it, you can pick it up off the ground and go again. I want a 130 to replace it though.

I'm going to fix my 130 and give it one more chance, but it will be for in the garage or basement...just simple flying.

I have a 3/4 acre yard, but with about 75 large trees (at last count)...
pretty hard to fly anything there.

Firewood!! Lol.. Orrr obstacles.
My 130x went all in the trash.. Except the tail boom and tail gearbox. I have the xtreme tail gearbox and i like it. It was having issues that probably could have been fixed for $50 but then it always seems like that.. Then before you know it.. You are $300 into a heli you can pick up for $150 used. I think I'll buy another one too.. Have one for parts. They are fun when they fly right. Not power houses by any means but definatley better than the sim.

For the Kosmik you need a cooling fan, better the Cool Kosmik. Curently we are also working on a mount for the YGE 320 and prepare then flight tests with it.

We like the incredible sound, a staff member has dubbed it "Skyabusa"

Gerd,
I am going to do a similar setup as yours.. Mount a cooling fan on the motor and use cooling fins from a computer chip, or have some custom made for the ESC. I was liking the kosmik cool but I don't think it will be cool enough still.
Skyabusa is appropriate for sure.. That thing is amazing.

In the latest video a Pyro 850/50 (stock version) was used with a Pyro 200 in auto timing mode, batteries were 2x7s/4400/60C. You must have a look on it, that the whole surface over the FETs in the Kosmik is covered from the cooling hat. If you are not sure, then ask Kontronik or have a look in.In my opinion it would be good to add lasered edge marks on the top of the Kosmik that you can see where the FET´s are.
Also to use the Kosmik in the S you must remove the two front mounts. No problem, the bottom plate is also available as spare.
Oh, the Naca-Ducts are included in the kuts, but we have decided not to factory mount them because somes are using other controllers.

I saw it, that's where I got the idea, I will cover the whole top with a large cooling fin setup. I will probably get the largest one I can find and trim it to fit so the air passes right through it. I'll figure it out when mine arrives here. I like to make custom installations and I have good friends in the car audio business and they have a lot of ideas and ways to keep electronics cool.
Maybe you can give me a heads up on when my S will ship to me? : )

I have a hardly used 14s Scorpion 450 kv I'm going to use. I don't plan on breaking any records just yet. I just wanna learn to see what's it's like to fly as fast as I possible can in a straight line.

I'm not trying to break any records either, and I am sure that I am far from that skill level. I am just worried about the heat inside the canopy. I run my Diabolo on a 450 KV and I have a xera 450 for the S. It would be nice to have other guys around that do it, but I have no helicopter guys at all... I'm out here all alone!

There are many options for someone like me.

I could always run a helijive 120 on 12s with 2000rpm with top end thunder power batteries, 11-12 degrees of pitch and still have a smoking fast helicopter at the local fields. I do plan on flying this helicopter weekends at the field.

With my flying skills, I shouldn't be thinking blower motors with huge esc's. Something with those kinds of power could potentially get me in trouble and or hurt.

Furthermore, using a system like this (I already have these components), would allow me to use a more efficient system for my FAI helis.

There are definitely lots of options, and probably hundreds of different ways to set this animal up. I will set it up in beast mode and tame it off with a lower head speed and larger tail blades when I just want to fly it around. It will spend more time at first doing regular sport flying until I get a handle on how she behaves. As for large motors and ESC's, I do that on purpose, I may not ever use their full potential, or at least not all the time, but its nice to have them for when you do. Monster setups run cooler when not used to their full potential. My ESC on my Diabolo is rarely hotter than ambient temp after a typical day of flying for me.

I can't wait to see your build Brian, its going to be awesome to see what everyone does with theirs.
