I like the choice of electronic, but I know that the BeastX was mounted on one of the fastest heli's. I'm sure when you start checking around you will find many different equaisions.

How are you going to check the speed?

I used a pitot tube for the airspeed that was attached to a digital read out. It only measures fastest speed.

I also bought a Voltron mini GPS. They are not perfect, but they will tell you if you are making improvements in speed.

I have a small garmin that will fit inside the fuselage. It will track the whole flight. I also have friends who are cops and have radar guns.. Those are fun

Glad you like the triabolo. I have a Diabolo and is my prime machine for fun.

If speed is NOT your thing, you won't understand our fascination.

We are no just going to do a few passes,
We're (I am) going to compete with it, like you said.

That is what is intended for. If you have not entered a speed run event like the IRCHA Cup you have no idea of the adrenaline rush we experience.

A few intend to own these as collectors, and that's cool, but the Diabolo S was aimed at speed competition.

You would'nt buy a Ferrari F1 to go the the store just to buy milk? You would get one to beat everyone else racing to the store to buy milk. lol

cheers

I'm somewhere in between. I appreciate the work that goes into this mechanical wonder. I am a fan of every aspect of this hobby, will I ever do a speed pass at IRCHA or any other sanctioned event, probably not, but I for sure will be racing all the planks around and flying the crap out of it. When I get tired of doing 150 across the field... I'll bust out the Goblin.. Or the Diabolo. I'm pretty excited to own one.. I'll take the Ferrari to the grocery store.. : )

man I will just own one to look at it every day...damn such a pretty machine.

I just wish this thing sounded like the banshee...damn that banshee sound puts an extra 40km/h onto the helicopter.

Really a great machine....you put this heli on the stand at the field and you will be just the man, you dont even need to fly it. In a way I wished it could take 12s packs....I would have considered buy one for christmas - dont tell the wife shhhh

Craig, I can just see its going to be a pita to close the canopy, that thing has got no space for any excess wires, never mind the kosmik with a fuse and EC5 connectors....Please post some pics of your installation, I would love to see what you come up with to make it all fit. I did notice that Gerd was not running the kosmik fuse

Not sure flying one of those things would ever be boring! Has anyone tried any 3D with it?

Oh I'll be posting lots of pics.. And probably be driving the speed guys crazy because of my lack of concern for how anyone else does anything. I'm already dreaming up ways to wire it, but since it's so unique it's hard to know what needs to be done. I love a challenge.. And this thing seems like a challenge. And if it will fly upside down, I will fly it upside down. Not for monster stick banging 3d.. That's what the G700 is for.. Just for some big air and rolls.

For those who must

Scooter:

For short rides, or just to make a short ride out of anything.

Grocery car:

Not a lot of trunk space but you can get there and back faster than anyone else...and with the biggest grin

Daily Heli beater:

just cant wait for it

Like I said, the video was made by Minicopter and posted on HeliFreak by Gerd himself. (you can go straight to youtube and check the author)

Ahhh

yeah, is a fully functional heli, essentially Diabolo proven mechanics with a highly modified chassis and a tite body. The heli is capable of almost anything that you want if is setup for 3D, FAI or else. I bet it will do awesome knife edge flights, but she's made to go realy fast.

Miles center stage demo at the jamboree consisted of some 3D and ballistic aerobatics.

Is up the owner whatever they want to do with it. I am sure I'll stare at it a lot .

MoneyPitVictim,

Is this going to be your FAI F3C heli too? I like the yellow scheme you picked for your S.

No FAI (F3C) for my S, strickly speed.

My regular Diabolo will be going to AMA/FAI competition.

Chuck Anderson won AMA Nationals Sportman class with a Diabolo this year, and it sat (hover) better than most if not all of the FBL entries. I flew it and ist was quite impressive.

Glad you like the yellow, will look like a distant cousin to your SFR2. LOL

BTW, the IRCHA course rules should now parallel FAI speed rules.
