I had one of the Futaba temp sensors for my nitros but it didn't last long. The wires on the actual sensor are very thin and fragile. After a few gallons it started acting erratic with temps ranging from normal to over 800 degrees. I noticed one of the wires going to the actual sensor was frayed. I tried cutting out that portion and reconnecting the 2 wires with a M/F servo connector with no luck. Anyone know if the sensor portion can be cut off and replaced (keeping the small telemetry portion)? I don't really want to spend another $80 on an entirely new sensor only to have the same issue again.

I had exactly the same problem earlier in the year the wire broke after about 10 flight so I soldered the cable back together then covered in heat shrink. When I refitted it I allowed the cable a bit more slack by the engine so it was not stressed at all. I have since done another 100 flights with no problems at all and also had a major rebuild after a crash with no damage to the sensor wires :-).

Hope this helps.
