It's all really quite scientific ..

Weight = Awesome / Fun

So if you take the N7's Awesome rating (950* out of 1000) and divide that by how much Fun it is to build, own, and fly (100 out of 100) then you get it's relative Weight.

N7 = 950/100

So clearly, the weight is: 9.5 pounds

* 0-1000 is an exponential weighted scale, each unit is exponentially higher than the last so it's impossible to reach an Awesome rating of 1000. 950 is the highest rating possible without the subject existing in multiple universes simultaneously.

It's Synergy Law and works for all helis, for example the MA Whiplash:

Whiplash = 600/52 (or 11.5 pounds)

All I'm saying is you just can't argue with the math ..

Sorry guys, we are skipping out on OHB this year. We have attended OHB for the last three years in a row so this year we are going to spend it with the family over the holidays. Looking forward to seeing everyone in 2014!

Just for comparison purposes (and nostalgic reasons)....

Ladies and Gentlemen, a curio & relic for your viewing pleasure:

9.83lbs. Not too shabby.
Same general config(?), but with a flybar-thingy and about a pound of dust.

Where is the canopy?!

Don't forget to add another 9 ounces for the N9 canopy! The N9 canopy was not light by an means. This puts you in the mid 10lbs range. The old N9 was not a light machine, I was able to get my competition model down to 10lbs 1oz dry but this was with a TON of modifications to loose weight. The new N7 is in the mid 9lbs range stock out of the box.

Would love to try a N6 with a 105,
Fun is a constant variable with N7, so if N7=Awesome/Fun then N6=<W= more awesome/Fun.

My N5c Torque Tube edition weighs in at 8lbs-5ozs (3,800gms ready to fly, no fuel). It's quite a bit heavier than my Hirobo SDX, but it's also a larger helicopter in most every way.

It seems that the N7 isn't really that much heavier - the larger disk area, extra 1+hp should make it a very nice ship!
