@ bikersurgeon
I find this thread pretty interesting as I had done some intro flights on R-22's. Before I started flying RC, I got my Private and flew Cessna's and Piper's. I also took my first intro flight in an R-22 which I swore I wold never do again because I could not maintain any reasonable amount of control. Later I took up RC Planes and found that it was a new challenge all together since the perspective was changing with each direction and orientation. Then I took up RC Helicopters and taught myself how to fly Great challenge and really gave me an appreciation for fine control movements and being ahead of the machine. A couple years into it a fellow RC Heli friend asked if I was interested in taking an intro flight in an R-22. At first I was not savy, but then I wondered how much better I could do. He had never flow anything full scale before and had a little difficulty, but managed. I was surprised to find that I could fly the R-22 with ease. Although I was not perfect, I was in control this time Overall, I think that if a person is interested in getting into full scale anything, the RC would be a great stepping stone. As for a regular joe taking the controls with no experience to speak of, I am betting they would be dead.

At altrex: appreciate the input. I am set to do this: http://choppercharter.com/i-pilot/

I wondered if flying rc would help. My buddy flies full scale fixed wing. I have flown rc fixed wing since 1982. He often lets me fly his plane when we go up...even has had the cojones to let me land it many times. It almost feels natural!
