Great. Another Blade knockoff to sell to the US military for 60large a pop. That we could build for em at the local hobby shop for $200. This is what we get for voting those Republican straight tickets, folks - no wonder our country is going totally broke.....

And they still have "Jello" in their video downlink - do they even balance the rotor blades for you for your $60,000?

c'mon fellers.... we can do better than this...

last time I checked we've had many years of Democrats at key federal positions. In that time we've doubled the national debt, nice gift for our children. Personally I think that deficit spending should be illegal, it is immoral.

For the record I do agree, the spend on some of these projects is absurd and shows at the very least rampant incompetence.

I'm ok with deficit spending when necessary, it just needs to be done where it's really needed - not on ridiculous stuff like this.

Ok, maybe $200 is a little low - you need an iPad and maybe if you really need to splurge, a hexacopter with a Wookong-M flight controller. So maybe it's more like 2large, max. retail price. The pentagon could surely buy it wholesale for half that.

But instead, 60large or who knows how much of our tax money will go to this thing, and they didn't even balance the rotor blades for you. That ought to tick off every living soul in this country...

why would anyone be ok with this? If I continuously paid my VISA bill with my Master Card and vise-versa, I think I'd eventually be prosecuted for fraud.

Funny how that works.

Our current gub'ment is a criminal organization. Period.

This is what a government is supposed to do during a recession (unlike a household). Strange but true - this is how a government protects an economy from more disastrous effects of simply letting a recession continue until it becomes a depression or worse. The conservative (Republican) approach, OTOH, is to do just that. Simply eliminate govt. spending in support of a failing economy altogether and let the whole thing collapse (something only the very very wealthy actually survive). AKA the "let them starve" policy. We've seen how that's been going for us for quite a while now.

This is a controversial topic, tho, in economics:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deficit_spending

It's worth mentioning, tho, that trouble happens if it's done too much - then you have a huge bubble-like economy with no real wealth behind it. The last few big crashes in our economy have been partially a result of being too excessive about deficit spending, for example.

So like I said, I wouldn't be as upset if deficit spending were being targeted where it's needed the most. It's not - most of it is going to corporate welfare and the rest to the Pentagon.

Hence, this little multi-thousand buck drone I could build you for $1500 I'm going to have to pay through the nose for this April 15. And I won't even be allowed to fly it. That just happens to chap my a$$.. .

Well I got three of em here in the apt... well, the phantom doesn't have camera gear on it right now, I had to rob it to put it on the Whiplash, but.....

Autonomous flight is also coming to the masses with the DJI controllers. You can fly some of them to various GPS waypoints with just an iPad and their app. It's kind of scary but cool at the same time lol.

I got the pleasure of trying one of these useless little toys out last time I was in Afghanistan. They aren't 60k.. More like 15k.. But useless nonetheless. The controller is held in on hand and the controls are terrible. We, the US, aren't using them as far as I know, but the Brits are. It's all brushless and the PC links are rollers.. The swash is a flat disc that they ride on with the servos and such all inside. I couldn't fly it.. I crashed it.. But it's like most micros.. Just pick it up and start over.

With what was spent on the Obamacare website ($650,000,000), it would fund almost 11,000 bloated projects like this. Oh, and the website doesn't work so will probably cost 20,000 projects like this before you can successfully log in.

By the way, before the Federal Reserve Bank was formed to protect us, the recessions were more common but of very short durations. They self corrected quickly. So are we better off with astronomical amounts of debt and super slow recoveries?

Why does it cost 15 large is the first question I'd ask. What does it have that a blade + iPad doesn't for 1/10th the price

Well we've already seen the effects of the proposed "austerity" solution by the conservatives which I think is much worse. Namely, the sequester and even the totally Scrooge cutting of food stamps recently by the congress. Presumably to buy more of these super overpriced little drones.

So at this point, it's a choice between a really bad situation (govt deficit spending) and a really really really bad situation (letting the entire economy simply collapse but retain corporate welfare and military spending). I think we're better off with the really bad one.
