So I was thinking of ways to make my NX4 less tail heavy. Originally I put roughly 50g of blue-tac stuffed into the nose of the canopy, although it was only 50g (was still slightly tail heavy) it felt like a fat pig to fly especially with 425mm blades! I thought it would be nice to fly it without the canopy to save some weight so I came up with this...

Was your tail really that heavy?

To need the 50g+ of blue-tac in the nose of the canopy yes. Other things I had done are; shorter and lighter trex 500 carbon boom supports, remove horizontal fin, skids pointing forwards (as they should be IMO) and skid pipes as far forward as I could without it looking silly.

Solve one problem and create another. How to do you monitor your fuel remaining in the header tank with the canopy in the way?

As I said I'm flying it without the canopy. The canopy no longer fits anywhere unless I cut a huge piece out. It's not essential to view the header tank anyway fyi.

The canopy could cover on this one. it lined up better with the carb as well. and you're right it didn't matter if I could see the header I would land after the main tank was empty .
