Well I did a little bit of work on my 407 as I hit the road again tomorrow morning at 4am

I put rivets on the windshield area and where the inspections panel is on the right rear corner of the main fuse. Also put rivets on the nose and installed the pitot tube.
I still need to clean up the nose vents as they look sloppy right now.

Roy, your rivet job looks awesome, what technique are you using?
Also in one of your earlier photos of the foward fuselage where the tail boom connects to the main fuse I see what appears to be a section of tubing coming out of the fuselage, what is this tube for?

thanks guys, we are here at ircha and having a blast aready!

that is a section of the tailboom that plugs into the mechanics and the torque tube drive. I did that to mine and then to Roy's as well. utilizing the full tailboom isn't practical because of the angle of the tube drive in relation to the mechanic's forward tilt.

Yea what he said LOL

As for the rivets I am using two different techniques.
On the sides and other parts of the fuse I am using the Vario stick on rivets. They look very nice but I wish they were just a little bit taller.
I also use the old scalehouse glue on rivets. They are plastic and come on a tree like plastic model parts I stick a pin into the rivet, cut it off the tree, touch it against some super glue then stick it on the fuse. I am running out and wish I had more.
BUT similar pieces can be bought on the Internet and it is a lot cheaper and you get a lot more of them loose in a package.

Roy, those rivets look great, it's hard to keep a straight line. Nice work...

Thanks Barry,
since I was placing them free-hand without making any measurement marks I was worried about spacing and the lines being straight.

I can't wait to finish this bird so I can move on to my "bigger"
projects

the 407's are on fire!

This thread has focused on several 407 builds, all awesome machines.
I am proud to say mine has brought me home another first place trophy. I hope it will be able to participate in the 407 games at Dalton this year along with Rich and Ed's and who knows, maybe even Roy's if its flyable

Well, these past few days I've been working on the Huey fixing pinholes and so forth prepping for paint. So while the huey fixes set before sanding, I decided to do something with the 407. So, I added a few more rivets. I'm not good at this and just learning but I think it definitely adds to the scale look...

I also decided to try the Perlen Pen to make rivets. I've seen a Jet Ranger completely done with the Perlen Pen and it looked great. It just takes practice to get them all the same. this next pic was my first attempt with the Perlen.
