Well I went to see the movie in 3D. The technical effects were very good and the 3D was good as it was not popping out of the screen at you, just good moderate 3D.
But for Saundra Bullock to operate a Russian soyuz escape module and the a Chinese escape module was a little over the top. As much damage as these things had, first the shuttle torn apart, then jetpack jetting over to the ISS which had tremendous damage she was to use one of the soyuz earth return modules, but that was damaged, so she had to disconnect from the ISS and pilot the damaged Soyuz over to the chinese space station, which was also severely damaged.
Getting over to the Chinese station she had to abandon the damaged Soyuz and use a fire extinguisher as a hand held jet pack to propel herself over the last few 100 feet.
Using the Chinese earth return module she barely makes it back. She also started with her american spacesuit but when she entered the Russian Soyuz she donned a Russian space suit. Guess I'll have to see it again to find out why she changed suits. Oh wait, the oxygen in her suit was depleted so I guess there is no way to recharge your suit oxygen since the ISS was badly damaged.
It wasn't the great movie all the hype had given it. There were only 7 people in the whole theater for 7:30 showing.
Her floating and pushing herself around the the space stations was well done and believable that it is zero gravity.
.
Add you comments if you have seen it.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

is there a way i can get my money back? i got tired of hearing clooney and sandra say how good looking he is. it should have not been called gravity, but the most impossibly lucky person, i think winning the lottery has better odds than all the space garbage flying by a bullet speeds thats she dodged without even a single scratch, oh and the scene were sandra barked like a dog repeatedly, wtf.

I thought the concept sounded good but after watching the previews I didn't feel like sitting through hours of Bullock screaming...that's all the previews seemed to show.

I'll go see Rush instead.

I didn't think it was that bad. It was a nice change of pace from the paranormal crap and the violent stuff the kids like to see these days.
Yeah, some of the ideas were a little out there. She changed suits because she left the American one in the ISS. The fire made here leave in a hurry. The barking was pretty funny. In context with the AM Chinese radio, it fit.
I also like the 3d. It's a little rough with me wearing glasses, and those stupid 3d things, but hey it's only a couple hours. Nice movie to take the kids to.

I though it was a good movie, but I also thought it was far fetched. We went and saw the Imax version (should have saved the extra $4.00 though) as the theater was more of a disappointment than the movie.

Effects were very good, but the whole opening premise of space debris moving that fast just didn't cut it for me right from the beginning.

I got a kick out of the fire extinguisher jet pack though. LOL

Hey, it's a movie......

If it ain't broke, go fly some more!

It's a movie, not a documentary. Enjoy it for what it is.
