Any tips for somewhat of an advanced pilot.. I took my first FBL flights today with a new 600 nitro.. I like it overall but it feels very different and can't really do piro flips with yet.. Seems like less is more with this heli...

just take your time.
Redo a short series of basic trainings.

i found thet you have to steer "less"

piroflips work ok just adjust the timing of the rotational speeds to your preferences or do some adapting flights so your brain picks up the timing.

After converting on 710 bird to FLB i nearly crashed in figure 8 because the banked circuits steer little weird in one direction.

After 10-20 Flights the brain has adapted.

Which FBL unit? There are settings that can be changed in some of them to give a more flybarred feel.

60% of the time, it works every time!

i think that might have more to do with the unit and/or setup than anything else. the first time I tried FBL I was hooked. I didn't have to adjust to or change anything. It was like putting on a favorite pair of boots.

if it ain't broke, break it.

Adjust the fbl unit to behave like a FB heli? Isn't that sort of like the smartphone technology "speech-to-text, text-to-speech"? Just call the guy lol.

my point is it should feel different as in better, not different as in foreign.

my first taste of FBL was more like going from watching SD on a 19" CRT to watching HD on a 60" flat panel. OP's experience sounds more like he's switching from English to SAP audio, wherein I believe there's a setup problem.

if it ain't broke, break it.

I
I'm in the process of building two helis and both with the 3gx.. But this particular heli has the 3G in it.. I was getting a little tail boning up and down so I reduced the gain in my dx7 for 76 to 66 and it stopped a little.. Yesterday was very windy though so who knows.. I. Getting ready to go out and fly again now.. I set it up according to the trex instructions that came with the heli... I have zero sub trims all the way around with 12 12 pitch..

you may find a satisfactory spot after some tinkering. But, don't let your experiences with any of the Align units cloud how you feel about "this flybarless thing" in general.

not trying to come off negative sounding. I'm just saying you shouldn't eat a burrito from 7-11 and come to the conclusion that you don't like mexican food.

if it ain't broke, break it.

Flew three flights.. Was able to piro flip it.. Seems the tail still bobs up and down and twitched in funnels.. Tail slide with it a number of times and holds great... However the motor over speeds coming out of every maneuver

Tail holds, heli flies level and stable no FBL twitching but it over revs big time.. That's my big concern at this point.. I thought the gov would prevent that? Do I have to drop more money and switch out for a rev limiter instead of gov? It really over revs.. Gov lights come on and off with magnet. Throttle linkage is perfect.. Zero sub trims and max throws. Throttle curve is V 100, 90, 100.. What gives?

With the GOV setting, you don't use throttle curve when GOV working,GOV do the job when you setting depend which GOV you use,I set my GOV at aux2 switch on DX7

I'm using the dx7' on the aux 2 switch with throttle, curve set as backup.. I guess I should lower the values to see if I'm in fact on the gov or running the background curve cause it's over speeding pretty bad..

set up align gov on dx7
Here how I set up my DX7 it work good you may set like this if you want, easy not hard, take time to setting right and you will enjoy it

PROGRAMMING THE DX7
1. Go to the master menu. (Press down+select and power ON)

2. Scroll to Input Select menu and set AUX2 to AUX2

3. Now get out select model or Turn OFF and the turn ON the radio again.

4. Go to the programming menu. (Press down+select)

5. Scroll to PROG.MIX1 menu. We are going to setup here the desired headspeed for Normal mode. Set it to make it look like this:

AUX2> AUX2 ON -- if this says OFF,you on idle up mode 1 your flight mode switch is not in normal
Set rate: -12% ---
0%

SW: F-NR
OFFSET: 0

You set your RATE % based on the headspeed you want for normal mode. Refer to the table chart that came with the GOV.

6. Scoll to PROG.MIX3 menu.my mix2 is throttle cut. you are now going to setup here the desired headspeed for IDLE2 mode. Set it to make it look like this:

AUX2>AUX2 ON -- if this says OFF, your flight mode switch is not in IDLE2
Rate +10 or any number you want head speed idle up 2 % -- for 2024 rpm headspeed ,you can add if you want more head speed
0%
SW:F-S2
OFFSET: 0
Now you go to travel adjust and move to AUX2,plus number you cut down to 80 or low, high that you idle up 1 head speed when it on it subtract 12 or what number you want for your normal mode fly, idle up 2 will add more to head speed for you

8. Exit programming menu and verify that when you flick the AUX2 switch on your radio, you can turn ON (green) or turn OFF (red) the governor. Take note which way your switch turns the GOV ON/OFF. If necessary, you can reverse AUX2 from the reversing sw. on the radio.

This one how do I set up all my heli and been like this along time.
I hope it help you and enjoy it

I for got you need to check your throttle servo to engine made sure it travel correct when you assembly together. The manual it show you set up linkage.
