This may have been mentioned before by other people but just wanted to make sure I got a straight answer as it's really bugging me.

I have had my Trex 550E DFC for about 3 weeks now. The model has only been flown 6 times up to now. 2 weeks ago it had 2 flights, of just hovering and testing and everything seemed fine.

Then this weekend I was glad that I was going to be able to do some proper 3D with it, started out good and then mid way through flight motor cut whilst inverted, managed to get it back over but it was spooling back up as I was getting it back over. This happened on the next 3 flights after this. We tried different settings on the speedo to make it so it was less sensitive but still cutting.

I am using a castle talon 90 with mini vbar, with satalites on, the 1220kv motor that comes with the 550E DFC kit, 523 edge main blades, turnigy 5000mah 65c to 130c packs and a Spektrum DX8 transmitter.

Has anyone got any ideas what this might be?

Thanks

Matt

A friend of mine had the same thing happen on his 550 with a Talon. He's had two shutdowns and after his last crash he switched to a YGE ESC, no problems with his new ESC.

Jeff

To hover is divine, the alternative is rather PLANE.

What headspeed were you running and how much collective?

60% of the time, it works every time!

I wasn't running the governor, 100% flatline or just under. But I wasn't punching out of inverted hard, basically, just rolling over. Using about 13 degrees

Although it should handle it, at 100% you will be hitting around 2650 rpm. Might just be too much for it. Try 85% flat and see if it shuts down again.

I've now changed my esc for a CC Phoenix Edge 100 so shouldn't have any problems with that kind of headspeed now.... I hope
