icanfly rrElite Veteran ontario | Blade 500, I was wondering about that one. Too many plastic parts. Ahh, the pro version has all the aluminum, $750 or so bucks bind and fly.I'm going to be in the market for a 500 this winter, maybe for christmas. Will the Blade make a decent heli or are the parts expensive? What needs upgrading in your opinion, just the esc? Motor, skids, any tail parts, blades are of the best imho, servos? The DT 520 looks pretty decent actually.

TomC rrKey Veteran Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia | Just my opinion but my Blade 550x is one of the nicest heli's I have ever owned and flown. At ~$500 for the kit, including a very good 6s motor and 550mm CF fbl mainblades it's very good value imho. Parts are easy to get and HH support is second to none.Cheers,TomC Nqx,Mcpx-BL,300x,450x,500x,550x

GScott rrElite Veteran Lewis Center, OH | I run 6s 5000 packs in my 550sx. With a HS of 2300 I get about 5 minutes of big air, fast tic toc type sport flying. I could get more since I usually only put about 60-65% back into the packs. The weight of the 550sx helps a great deal. It weighs at least a pound less than my friend's Trex 550 and 2 pounds lighter than the E5. Despite its reputation it crashes fairly inexpensively thanks to the plastic frames and main grips.

michael88997 rrElite Veteran Lewisville,Tx | Not looking too good for the jr e6, the futaba servo connectors are out of stock and the stores said mid feb before they get them...I was looking into a trex 600 pro cause for less money than the goblin 500 I can set one up.. All I would need is a bigger psu.. Decisions decisions

GScott rrElite Veteran Lewis Center, OH | Make sure you research the 600 Pro. It has some issues. The tail ratio sucks so you need to run the head speed close to 2500 or it blows out. You can only use the Align motor or KDE unless you want to space out the servos. The one way is crap and cannot keep up with the power if the heli. It has the same crappy DFC head as well. I owned one last summer and the Logo or E5 is a major step up in every way.

michael88997 rrElite Veteran Lewisville,Tx | Yeah I saw those issues, saw the blade 600x but I just can't get myself to buy a big blade, plus I think they look weird. I really like the jr and rcjapan has the futaba links. May just have to order from there until Americas support gets setup

TomC rrKey Veteran Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia | I'm certainly not bragging but my Blade 550x w/6s5000 turnigy pack = 820g) weighs in at 3.45 kg total flying weight. I know, almost as much as some guys will 'say' their 10s3700 logo 600's weigh.Probably does not help that I have 60g metal geared servos, external gryphon quasar ubec w/flag switch, and a brick of a 220g Kontronik 120/200 Powerjazz installed, lol!At a gov'd ~2350 hs and +/- 13 deg col. pitch it fly's great. Soft/Med 3d for 5 min drains 75-80% and motor/esc/batteries are warm (just above body temp), not hot. It's a big 550 heli (makes the trex 550dcf look puny imho) and it looks a lot more like a 600 heli in the sky. Just my opinion but it fly's about the same as my good old (now r.i.p.) 10s3700 Trex 600e (w/Kontronik Jazz 55-10-32 esc and tango 45-08 motor btw).I'm sure that the Logo 550sx is a great heli and I personally had a very hard time deciding between it and the Blade 550x. A lot less plastic-fantastic (albeit, I know, very good Mikado plastics), TT tail (I know, nothing really bad with a good/soft Mikado belt and maybe a little electrical grounding), and a bit cheaper spares supply won me over.I'm sure I would have been happy with the Logo 550sx as well. Like all Logo's, they fly great. I have owned a few and still keep a 6s logo14 in my vintage fleet (plus an old 10s Ion-x).I'm also sure that the Trex 550 dfc would be a good choise as well. However, no way I'm buying into DFC (even compass's better version of it). I simply do not feel comfortable with these control systems (right or wrong, my choice right?).Cheers,TomC Nqx,Mcpx-BL,300x,450x,500x,550x

Funky Trex rrElite Veteran Westerville, OH - USA | Gscott is referring to my 550. It is a stretched Align v2, running a main and rx pack. It has aftermarket servos, a bigger motor, and 556/96 blades. We weighed my 550, a buddy's e5 and GScott's 550sx was a little under a pound lighter than my 550 and a bit under 2 pounds lighter than the e5. Not an even match up since they all have different electronics setups, but it did give us a general idea of what the helis weigh. We run higher headspeeds on the e5 & 550 v2 but Gscott's Logo looks just as powerfull at a lower headspeed.Much, much quieter in the air too

So you are going for the BLS153? I would not like plastic gears...
Why not one of the JR servos? But nevertheless, Fastlad has them http://www.fast-lad.co.uk/store/pro...oducts_id=25063 and also the shop where I buy my JR parts has them http://www.euro-rchelicopters.com/e...9/jr-61657_533/ Just contact them to inquire for option regarding shipping to the US.

Funky Trex rrElite Veteran Westerville, OH - USA | My Align 550 is 7 pounds 7 ounces with a 5000mah 65c flight pack, 2200 mah 30c RX pack, KDE motor and HV servos all around. Definately not a lightweight I have an older Logo 500 3d. With the same 5000 65c flight pack, aftermarket canopy, 1900mah RX pack, Align BEC, 550 SAB blades and 85 or 90mm tail blades it weighs 6 pounds 12 ounces. It is hard to compare weights on a bunch of helis set up completely different, I was just giving a general idea where our 550s weigh in although it was probably not much help.

Chris.C rrVeteran Hong Kong | My JR E6 550 gives me 6 minutes in idle up doing big air aerobatics with a 5000mAH 6S 45C pack. It comes down with around 30% capacity left. Mine does not have RX pack, everything on board powered by the main battery. It is a combo set meaning it comes with all JR electronics and it represent good value for money, IMHO.It flies so well that I end up bought all the upgrades for it, including the metal servo gear sets.
