Why/why not use a pyro 800-48 on a logo 700 xx. What pinion would I need to run? Rpm range? Cells need to use? Shaft size needed 8mm?

Thanks

You can but I am not positive if it will fit but I am pretty sure it will. 8mm shaft is a must and 12cell with that KV motor (480 right?)

The Pyro 800 was recommended to me by Kontronic and you will need a 19T pinion for it to get the close to the required HS.

The Pyro 800 is the only one with a 8mm shaft. The Pyro 750 last time I looked only had a 6mm shaft with no 8mm option available.

Also if you are willing to wait a few weeks. There may be a motor option from Hacker on the Horizon that will be perfect for the L700 and be on par with the hand wound Pyro's.

Can't say too much just yet but likely be a A60 Turnado approx. 520-550kV.

We are playing around with one for the Xxtreme 800 and it is very impressive. First impressions are that it has more power than the Scorpion, in fact haven't bogged it yet, still trying. Runs cooler and is also lighter than the motor it replaces.

More info to be released as we get it.

What diameter shaft is the Xera?, can't find any info on their site about it.

Bugcatcher you are correct it has to be a 8mm shaft on the motor and there are only a couple of options out at this time. I think I'm going to go with the YGE and scorpion combination. I hope I'm happy with this set-up. I just could not bring myself to spending 800 on a esc and 500 on a motor.

xera is 8mm in the motor but tapers to a 6mm, however kde direct offers an 8mm shaft kit that I am sure will work in the xera. I might have to machine a groove for the clip but thats no biggie, and it is about 55mm outside the can so should work out well.....for $30 its worth a try.. I love my xera motor, it has served me well!

I bought the motor for $350 (I think) new....... the shaft was $30 and I machined it myself... you could find one used in the classifieds for $250 +/- and then just change the shaft....... with this motor you dont have to oil the bearings every 6 flights either!!!
