Up until today, my heli fleet has ranged from Gaui 200 up through 450 sized helis (1 Blade, 3 Align, and 4 MT325). While at the local hobby shop, I just could not ignore the extremely low sale price of the Blade 500 3D basic. I sort of had been looking at the 500X, but for this sort of price difference, I accept the FB and update to FBL at some time in the future.

For all the Blade haters, I had a 400 with a zillion flights on it that went to a new owner when got a 450 Pro, I've flown that one for so many flights that I wore out the gears and tail belt. Both had all Blade electronics and were completely trouble free. I'm looking forward to many flights with the Blade 500. My "old fart" flying style certainly helps with the longevity of my helis!

Gaui 200, 255; T-Rex 250, 450 SE & SA, Mini-Titan, Blade 450

I couldn't pass up the deal either. I have all flybarless heli's but will deal with a flybar at that price.

To compare prices, the mcpx was $219 when it came out, so a 500 for $259 is a steal!!

My buddy flew one the other day and said it was pretty nice.

Thanks FlyAway02 your the one to blame for my recent purchase

I've had the fun of setting up a number of 50 through 90 sized helis for other people, having a ball flying them, but not owning one. Surprisingly, no large electrics! So I see larger still electrics in my future, as I think this 500 will be like opening the flood gates.

They just keep adding up. I have had over 100 and am not really flying right now and have 16 helis. I was thinking of also getting that blade but I stopped at Hog Heaven today and they were out. Good way to save money.
Good luck with your new 500.

+1 for Hog Heaven. The are out because I bought the last one they had.

Unfortunately, I still haven't flown it because John didn't have any of the right size lipo packs. Which raises a question. The Owner Manual recommends nothing smaller than a 6 cell 2600 mah Lipo, but says nothing about the largest battery that will fit.

So that raises the question, what is the largest battery that fits in this heli?

Surely it will take a 3300mah. Doesn't HH list batt tray dimensions?

I hope because I bought a 3300 mah to try out. I am also gonna try out a savox 1600 kv in it and see how it goes, think I have found a 10t pinion that will work.

I finally flew my Blade 500 3D today, gusty wind and all. Quote nice? I had given the heli a good preflight inspection and all looked good. The first hop was up to about eye level to check the blade tracking. Surprisingly, they were in perfect track. What are the odds of that?

I only have two lipo packs, having picked up two Pulsar 6 cell 3700 MAH packs from RC Hover. Yes, the fit, but there is no way you'd ever get anything larger under the canopy.

Starting with the recommended settings for my Dx7, the only settings I tweaked were the Normal throttle curve and the dual rate/expo settings, setting them more toward my personal preferences.

Questions? I normally use Deans plugs on my 450 sized helis. The Blade 500 came with EC3 connectors. What are your favorite connectors/plugs for 500 size helis?

Additionally, what are your favorite chargers? I'm using a Triton charger. It will handle 6 cells, but takes forever to charge these 6 cell packs.

Sorry, but a 500 is not a "large heli", although it may seem that way compared to the smaller stuff. It's mid-sized and still somewhat on the smaller end of that range.

Oh, and, FlyAway02, Dejavu/Heli*xion, Gemini357, whatever else... Is that you...again? Your horrific writing, lack of punctuation, etc is awfully "familiar".

Well, since you write like you're eleven, I guess you'd be the expert...
