That was fast for sure. I find it strange that electric guys have smoke. I guess they want to be like the nitro guys.

That is NOT the speed runs, that was a center stage demo.

Hugo and Pascal participated in the Speed Cup on site 3. Great pilots and superb folks.

The machine looks and presents very nicely in the air, more so than the other speed helicopters. Unfortunately they are nowhere as fast either.

Then again, they are just prototypes.

Just after the pilot does a little mild 3D in the video Bert mentions that they need to be flown right way up in forward flight because .......... (and I could hear why.) Can somebody hear better than me or work out why??

He said that usually for speed runs they turn the tail gain down to reduce drag, versus 3D flying which tends to use higher tail gain.

dagnabit, I'm working on a trike landing gear configuration just like that gobberin and I didn't see it till only now. I designed a trike landing gear back in the past winter as something to mess with a heli to make it interesting. No mind, small world, and I know how to make a Gobbin go faster, I ain't tellin. My landing gear design is part of an overall body design, one day it'll make sense.

I dig the nitro smoke trail, hehe, NOW I can see it.

Reduced tail gain assists in the tail blades becoming a tail fin at speed. Theoretically you could run a speed machine without the tail rotor and have a fin once it was at a speed which will hold the tail in place like a plank (there's one clue).

Good luck everybady, tootsuite.
