If I remember correctly, I had my gyro plugged into the gear channel and just set the endpoints for HH and Rate mode.
For you, you probably need to inhibit the Gyro sens and then set values for the Aux 2 switch.

the answer might be in Heli 770's link but I didn't read it.

with Gyro Sens active... the switch is inhibited and does nothing.
With gyro sens inhibited... the switch is active.

Gyro sens is useful so that you can have different values set in normal, ST1, ST2 and TH flight modes. so both flight modes and gyro setup are on one switch.
Inhibit gyro sens and use the Aux 2 ( or whatever ch 7 is ) then you have only 2 or 3 choices depending on the switch.

I fly basic flying and have the gyro sens on and the same numbers in all flight modes. I used to have the gyro on the Gear switch but I never flipped the switch. always the same.

Sounds like you want to put the gyro gain on the switch so you can go between HH and rate modes. so, you'll need to inhibit Gyro Sens.

You are making this much harder than necessary. With your 8103 set up exactly as you described in the quoted text above, and with the gyro gain lead plugged into the AUX 2 channel of your receiver, the FLIGHT MODE SWITCH IS WHAT YOU USE TO SELECT GAIN and MODE. Period. End of story.

Further, with the RATE numbers BOTH set to 65, no matter what else you do, you will end up selecting Heading Hold operation.

As I have stated clearly on at least two of your other posts with regard to this question, when using the GYRO SENSE menu to control the gyro, RATE NUMBERS LARGER THAN 50 SELECT HEADING HOLD MODE. RATE NUMBERS LESS THAN 50 SELECT Normal/Rate mode operation.

0 to 50 ==> rate mode, with 0 = full gain, 50 = NO gain.
50 50 100 ==> heading hold mode, with 50 = no gain, 100 = full gain.

Also note that you have selected "0" in the F.MODE setting for NORM AND STNT. Your RATE number for position "0" is 65, and your RATE number for position "1" is also 65. Therefore, ALL positions of your FLIGHT MODE SWITCH WILL select 65 as your gain, therefore ALL positions of the FLIGHT MODE SWITCH WILL OPERATE IN HEADING HOLD MODE.

-----

With the exact same information you posted (quoted above for reference) it is now time to amaze yourself.

Make TWO CHANGES for Demonstration Purposes:

Change RATE 1: so RATE 1: reads 25 (instead of 65).
Change STNT from "0" to "1".

-----

Turn your radio on with the FLIGHT MODE SWITCH in POSITION 0 -- toward the BACK of the transmitter, and let the gyro initialize. It will initialize in HH mode, the red LED will be ON.

Flip the FLIGHT MODE SWITCH to EITHER its MIDDLE or FULL FORWARD position, and see that your gyro suddenly begins to operate in Normal/Rate mode.

Now, with the gyro in Rate/Normal mode, go to your Gyro Sense menu and simply increase the RATE 1:25 number up to RATE 1:65. Watch as the gyro switches to Heading hold mode as the number goes from less than 50 to greater than 50.
