I think the design is very interesting and it very much intrigues me. For the sake of all of us, I hope this go around is far different than when the Aurora was finally released. Those of you that have been around a while know exactly what I mean.

Well time will tell if that was truly the reason. I hope so, because I actually would love to see Avant back in the game.

This is an example of why people are talking about avant the way that they are.

Avant and Synergy started at about the same time. JK being the owner of Synergy and I cant recall the owner of Avant. (Augusto I think) Synergy had there helicopter out in about a 1/3 of the time. Jason Krause designed the N9 from his living room with a CAD program that is very advanced and basically self taught himself. (Solidworks) I dont believe JK ever had to push back the release date. JK was starting a new business out of his house from nothing just like Avant. But JK never made false promises about when the synergy would be out in the hands of his customers.

Now, on a different note. I love the Avant line. I will be ordering one in the future when i get back from deployment.

In some ways the Aurora did. They were at the forefront of supplying really first class machined parts standard.

This new heli looks like it will be one of the first to allow quick change between electric and nitro, and has some great innovations in the DFC head.

Looks like it will be much simpler to work on, less parts and still "sexy thin".

American made is icing on the cake.

I think Miniature Aircraft and Hirobo was at the forefront of quality long before Avant came on to the scene. Quick change concept was done with the Rave ENV.

Most everything on this concept machine is a refinement of everything that already exists. Take a look at the Goblin.... How about the Compass 7HV or Align DFC head? Again simply refinement of what is already out there. Sorry guys, not exactly a game changer. Just some improvement of what is already out there.

I don't believe JK owned Synergy. He was merely the designer of the N9.Some guy in Taiwan was the owner. If he was the "owner" and it was his baby, then why walk away from it and go work for Align? If he was self taught on CAD he should've gotten help IMHO.Look at how many issues the N9 had. I can guarantee that AvantRC tested the snot out of this heli and the materials used on a computer and in real life.

Touche ghostrider, avant took what is working really good refined it a bit and put it all together. Also, pretty obvious that it's very similar to the goblin. I just hope that it flys in such a way that suggests it is an avant, not showing characteristics of another heli.

Just jumping in, I actually like the current one (the Aurora?) that Krack has and I've seen pictures of. The head is reminiscent of the Whiplash head, at least in appearance. Looks like a nice clean design.

I'm not real super thrilled with this new one tho. That's a bunch of gears plus a belt in that drive train on the electric. That's one of my main dislikes on the Goblin and the Logo 800, for example.

I've never really liked the DFC head design because you can fix the problems it tries to solve in other ways by good design in the heli itself. And then still use a more conventional head with a separate follower system. The Whiplash is an example of that, where the weight is as high in the model as possible, particularly on the electric.

But I suppose this proposal of a composite link with the ends designed right is probably a better way to go. I wonder if those parts are going to be cheap tho - high tech composite links == big $ .

Otherwise, I'm glad to see Avant supporting nitro and still making nitro versions of their high-end models. I'm a Miniature guy these days, but the Avant really looks hard to beat to me...

I'm sure you could recognize several different models in there. I like it when someone takes different models and make there own. I like that we're breaking away from the traditional RC Helicopter.

There is a huge difference between someone who designs a helicopter and has it made by a job shop in Asia and one who wants to set up to produce and maintain control of the manufacturing. Especially challenging if it's being made in a country that otherwise is losing its ability to make anything.

Not saying it's easy to get a product line set up for quality production in Asia...but by comparison it's a walk in the park.
