They seem to be " Embassies" Bugging out - scramming. Many

Any new's from the Brit's ???

The United States will temporarily shut down its embassies and consulates around the world Sunday, including those in Iraq, Afghanistan and Egypt, as a precautionary measure, the State Department said Thursday.

State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf did not say how long the international installations would stay closed -- only that the decision was taken “out of an abundance of caution and care for our employees and others who may be visiting.”

Sunday is a normal workday in many Arab and Middle Eastern countries. Embassies in Europe and Latin America would be shuttered that day anyway.

“We have instructed all U.S. embassies and consulates that would have normally been open on Sunday to suspend operations, specifically on August 4,” a senior State Department official said Thursday night. “It is possible we may have additional days of closing as well.”

The issue of security abroad has been prominent in Congress since attacks on U.S. diplomatic outposts in Egypt and Libya.

On Thursday, measures to beef up security at U.S. embassies were passed out of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. The bill is in response to the Sept. 11, 2012 attack on the diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya, where Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans were killed.

The Senate bill creates a training center for diplomatic security personnel.

Separately, the House Foreign Affairs Committee authorized full security funding for diplomatic missions -- despite recommending a nine percent cut overall for State Department operations.

The House and Senate have already approved spending bills that cover embassy security. But their budgets differ markedly in other areas.

US in worldwide travel alert after 'al-Qaeda threat'

The US state department has issued a global travel alert because of an unspecified al-Qaeda threat.

In a statement, the department said the potential for an attack was particularly strong in the Middle East and North Africa.

It comes shortly after the US announced nearly two dozen embassies and consulates would be shut on Sunday.

The alert expires on 31 August 2013, the department said. It recommended US citizens travelling abroad be vigilant.

"Current information suggests that al-Qa'ida and affiliated organizations continue to plan terrorist attacks both in the region and beyond, and that they may focus efforts to conduct attacks in the period between now and the end of August," the statement said.

According to Obama, our war on terror was over. We had nothing to fear.

From a strategic sense, it makes no sense to shut all those embassies down. All the terrorist has to do is wait until they open again.

It does make sense to move out the women and kids and overwhelmingly beef up the security with marines and special forces.

It's another aspect of "stand your ground".

But, of course, this regime is a bunch of pussies.

Gee Dennis are you suggesting the terrorists will look at the published expiration date of Aug 31 and wait a few days until Sep 11 to attack?

I bet the terrorists didn't think of that.

Yeah, we sure fooled them.

\Thats my whole point.

You cannot fool your enemies form a point of weakness.

You must fool them from a point of strength and beat the livin crap out of them with absolute overwhelming force. For every single one of us they get, take out 50 of theirs.

But, alas. The regime we have now does not like the term "Victory"

Frickin pussies.

It sure looks demonstratively worse since Obama declared victory over terror! Kind of like it did back when Clinton was knuckling under to terror everyday when he/she was our wussy president.
Oh, and when Carter did it before that.

Why even have an embassy with live people. Setup virtual embassies, maybe just a kiosk that connects to a real staff located in the USA. Sure the kiosk would get destroyed a lot, but no US citizens would be harmed. Of course I am not serious, but what the h..l.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

Sure we have and mistakes were made. Just like in any war. The best made plans...............

Look, I am all for backing out of those countries and letting those that wish to kill themselves off, do just that.

But, when there is a credible threat from a known enemy at a specific time and place its not wise to back out like a bunch of pussies. All that does is make the enemy more effective and your efforts laughable. Giving justification to get out of there. You are no longer effective. The enemy respects strength and will take full advantage of weakness.

We no longer have the type of leadership to fight a war. They will only prolong it and make it worse.

nothing says "we're tough on terrorism" more than shutting down all of our embassies.
They've lost any and all control of the middle east. Excuse me, but wasn't Obama supposed to solve the middle east dilemna and bring world-wide peace....hence the Nobel???
The world is in more turmoil now than since WWII....
His master plan (I should say his "handlers master plan) is working perfectly on schedule......

Good idea gyro but wouldn't they just get to talk to somebody in India?

You cannot legalize morality. It's internal not external. You either have it or you don't.
