We are currently developing a electric helicam using the Rave 700. You can check our initial test with custom retracts (was not activated on the video) and gimbals from here: http://vimeo.com/71351584

The gimbals, retracts and the extra batteries will add an extra 5-6 Kgs. I'm a bit concerned about this part: http://www.curtisyoungbloodhobbies.curtisyoungblood.com/ND-YR7-AS1077-5227.htm

And have a couple of questions:
1. What kind of plastic did they use for this?
2. Would it be able to handle the extra load?

1. No idea.
2. The part doesn't take any weight load only control load. So I don't really understand your question.

I agree with PetterS, the part you are concerned with should not be a factor with the additional weight of the helicam.
