Yes, the gyro will act quite differently in HH mode.

Ok, if you turn on the heli and let the gyro initialize, is the tail pitch slider approximately centered?

If you apply right rudder before left, does it move?

A gyro in HH mode is trying to turn your stick input into an angular rate of rotation. When the heli is not in the air, the gyro cannot achieve that goal and will act odd at times. For example, if you put in left stick and the slider moves all the way to the limit and you continue to hold left stick for a few seconds then change to right stick, it will take several seconds before the slider moves off of the limit and starts going the other way.

Notice that if you give a small stick movement, the slider will slowly go to the limit. A larger stick movement makes it move faster. That's the HH mode integrating your angular rate inputs and trying to achieve the final position based on the integrated inputs.

You can check out your servo buy putting it directly into the receiver to make sure it is ok.

It takes very little movement to make the heli go nose left because of the torque put on heli from moving blades. It takes a lot more movement from the tail slider to get nose right, that is why at center travel there is pitch in the tailblades.
Not sure exactly what your asking but hope this helps.

Try using a digital servo for your tail for best results, a S9253 or S9254 or better

If it Ain't Broke........Don't Fix it..

Check the plugs on the servo some times they can push in and not make good contact also on the gyro check connections.
