So the DX9 will have capabilities that the DX18 does not? The two important ones I see being voice alerts and wireless trainer. Gee, that's nice. I better sell my DX18 fast because the value of it is going to start dropping dramatically.

I like my DX8 pretty good. And plan on useing it for the forseable future. It has all the features/ch I'll ever need. But the 9 looks neat has a more solit antenna. It would be nice if that antenna would fit on the 8.

Exactly. Great advice, but we do need those brave beta testers to be the "first explorers".

However, the resident "guru dude" of Spektrum Development on another popular heli forum assured us there'd be no bugs. Hello? DX8 anyone??? I don't CARE if it's "based on the same DX8 platform" that he claims has all the bugs worked out now. They're still not there yet with it. Brand new DX8s are being sold today with "bugs" on the PID recall list from when the freakin' thing was first released. And, some of these "bugs" are hardware related so a simple firmware update won't fix it. You have to send it in.

The DX8 ruined it for me. Unless they are the only manufacturer of transmitters I would never own another Spektrum radio. Even then I might consider hanging it up. Spektrum and Horizon Hobby used the consumer as the beta testers and I suspect this same thing is going on with the DX9.

I also had one of the first DX8's to come out and had some issues with it. That being said, Horizon did take care of the TX, but I had to send it back to them........Twice.
I did like the DX8 and it had some great features, Maybe if the DX9 proves itself, I could give it a try.

On the other hand I really like my JR11X.

I got my DX7 before the DX8 was released, it has been amazing to me. I will be looking for something with telemetry since I am getting into bigger birds and I hope this does the trick. I'm gonna order one when they aren't preorder anymore and cross my fingers. I'll bind it to the MSR first.. See how that works and work my way up the fleet.

I own one of the original batch of dx8 no problems with it at all. It has been a great radio. If I had a whine it would be the upgrades cocking up trim positions etc, but that is a very small inconvenience. All in all good radio and extremely easy to use. The dx9 is a great addition and one I am looking forward to owning. Also excellent service from Horizon uk, a good reason to buy their products

Good luck
