Yesterday at the field, there was a guy flying helis and when I dropped the tailgate of the truck he noticed I had two Hirobo's that had flybars. Immediately went into a schpeel about how expensive they were, can't get parts for them and I need to go flybarless and get the latest and greatest. For heavens sake why? One, I don't want or have the desire to go electric right now. It means a whole lot of costs for things I don't have. Two, my Hirobos do everything I need them to do. Three, if people would look around, pricing isn't more than anything else. There is that overseas company that is a crap ton cheaper than buying here. No matter what I said to the guy he wouldn't back down from his buy new speech. After saying I'm not buying nothing else and I'm sticking with Hirobo about six times, I just give up and had to avoid the guy. Why can't people just let others be?

Exactly!

If he insists you go all new, let him pay for it!

There, their and they're. It's really that simple.

I just SMile and practice my spider sense: and politely refrain.

After 35 year's -You all way's find the majority trys to buy the game.

Did you read the manual - Nope
Did you go thru your programming - and read the manual -Nope
Did you build it - Nope
Did you study up on the thing ?? - Huh ??
Is is charged ?? Gota meter - Nope
Did you check the balance - Huh
Did you write any of your settings down ?? - Nope

Break's your heart -To watch some one else test fly em on persistence then the Neubie takes it home in a sack never to return.

Does em no justice unless they apply a bit of their own sweat equity
and responsibility.

haha!!!!
It looks like I posted that one

The other day at the field a couple of the "new guys" came to my spot to look at my spiderwebbed rappies and started telling me I should go flybarless because is a lot cheaper and yadda yadda.
I said, when I crash if by any chance I break some of those pieces are mostly ball links so it cost me just few bucks. With the money I need to buy the FB gear I can afford to crash many times.
Then he laughed because I needed a "motor to start the motor".
I looked at him and said there's no blinder man that the one that don't want to see.
They bring (each of them) a powerplant with a gallon of gas to run the UPS they need to be able to connect the battery charger to be able to charge those bricks they run their 550's with.

Intelligence chases me, but I'm a lot faster! Fernando

I like electrics (especially because we now have little guys for limited space), but I still say playing with an internal combustion engine is one of the funnest aspects of the hobby.
I have a larger gas plank and I occasionally think of having a large electric plank that will share batts with my 550....then I see one fly and it's like "Blech".....never...

Be sure to use the Binford 3000 cattle-prod.

It is the best and newest in portable zapping technology.

I have a goblin 700 and a discontinued outrage 550. Sure the goblin is nice but I have more fun with the outrage. I will say, for me the biggest difference between starting with a 450 and then 550 was when I went vbar, it made me into a much better pilot...

Bling has a few advantages. Some of them are:

1) They look cool
2) They are cool
3) Sometimes they help
4) Sometimes they don't
5) They are expensive
6) Sometimes they are not necessary
7) They make your heli more stable
8) They don't make your heli more stable
9) They make us look more successful
10) They don't make us look more successful
11) They make some look foolish
12) They make some spend money they don't have
13) They just make some spend more money
14) They just help the retailers and no one else
15) They just help the designers and no one else
16) They don't help
17) They do help
etc, etc, etc, etc.

What the heck, get the bling if that's what you want. Its a hobby. If it makes you feel good, go for it. Who cares?

I just care if it works. Bling is not something that entices me any more. Stock is good in most cases. Most bling just adds extra weight.

yeah i see alot of people like that. think they need to have all that fancy stuff like 2.4 ghz, fbl, and lipos in everything they own. i still use nicads, nmih, and 72 mhz. my favrite heli that i own is a raptor 50. i do have a trexx 500 with a fly bar. i would rather fly my raptor 50 any day. and i have no desire to get a new heli. the ones i have fly just fine.

there is one good thing about people wanting all the lastest and greatest, i can now buy 72 mhz stuff on ebay for really cheap

I have just as much fun invert hovering my flybar'd trex 500esp inverted inches off the deck as I do when I do the same thing with my fbl Velocity 50. Some people spend so much time buying and building new stuff and I would rather spend that time building my meager skillset by flying. Hey, I like shiny new stuff too but I have to have a need for it.

Almost every one that I've spoken to who flies fbl swears by them but then again the fbl manufaturers are striving to make the flybared feel on their their systems and people who buys them loves it because it feels like a flybared heli. I don't get it.

The thing most pilots like about the fb'd models, is the feel around center. That's why the fbl manufacturers try to make it feel that way.

The biggest advantage a fbl heli has over a fb'd one set up for 3d flying, is the tracking in fast flight. The fb'd heli will want to pitch up at high speeds, and requires constant corrections by the pilot. Where the fbl heli is more of a point and shoot. It holds it's line with no pitching up, and no corrections required by the pilot.

With fbl you get the best of both worlds, plus a little less drag, and less parts to replace in a crash.
