I was at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science today in Dallas. They had an RC helicopter in a glass case as part of a water sampling exhibit. It had no markings on it, and it is not a helicopter design that I recognize.

Can you help me to identify the helicopter in this picture?

What was the relevance?

The helicopter had a PVC apparatus on the bottom of it full of electronics for sampling water from the middle of lakes. It was part of a "Science and Technology" exhibit.

I thought the Joker had a separate motor to drive the tail?

No, that was only one model (and maybe a few custom ones) later in the Joker series. Jokers were around for quite a while before the separate tail drive idea.

A key characteristic of the Joker design is how the flybar moves up and down in a slot.

That was built by some Kids over at SMU. My buddie helped design it. Part of it was built in the back of Mikes Hobby Shop. Theres this professor who is a freakin genius who would bring it over and be doing tests a few years back.
