You can vastly improve the range by going with a more powerful TX and circular polarized antenna. The 250mW TX is a bit low powered. Go with at least 400mW TX. 5.8GHz radio frequency also suffers from multipath interference when using the stock dipole whip antenna. The circular polarized (cloverleaf) antenna will fix that problem.
Personally, I recommend the Dominator goggles. They have the best video quality (glass optics versus plastic) and are modular, so you can upgrade and add components like head tracking as needed.
The negative on the Dominator is a fixed inter-pupillary distance at I think 65mm. It fits most just fine unless you have narrow eyes. The other issue is a narrow field of view (30°) versus a much wider FOV (46°) for FatShark's Attitude HD goggles.
There should be a new model Dominator (HD?) coming out soon that will have higher resolution and a wider FOV. Don't know if it will have adjustable IPD though.
