I flew it today. It is very close to being stable.
The current hold on AIL is 2 and 4 on ELEV.

It feels if it might be a bit aggressive in stunt mode.
Not sure, there were to many things to concentrate on and there was a very strong gusty wind.
Do you think the standard setup is for F3C or 3D.

I need to get used to the 3 blades, our last F3C competition for the year is on the 20th and it is now open for FBL.

Are you using Pirouette compensation?
I feel more in control without it as with it enabled on 75.

Will do the zero degrees again.

I received my second MB-391 head. Maybe I will ensure zero trimming
on the current 2 bladed VIBE(E12), ensure it is stable and then convert to MB391 to see if the head changes the characteristics

In your radio, you should use expo and dualrate to tame the heli down.
Both in stunt and normal mode.
Even the MB-391 setting that is for F3C would be crazy with 0 expo and 100 dual rate.
Start with like 20 expo and 70 dualrate..

And please add HOLD GAIN as I told you. 12 on both AIL and ELEV and let me know..

Dual/Expo rates are as per MB391 installation brochure.
Could not fly today because of the weather.

What I did notice was that the TAGS firmware was version 2.0.2 so I updated it to 2.0.3. If the weather allows I will see what the effect is.

Problem solved!!!

The updated firmware corrected the problem. Ok I changed the receiver as well because it fell about 100 meters when the spindle bolt broke, in the beginning of the year and it battled to bind the last 2 days)
The hold gain set to 12 still keep it steady in a hover where it would have drifted on the previous firmware version.

I bought the TAGS after the firmware was released and just assumed it would be the latest.

Maybe pirouette compensation will be more controllable as well.

Glad we got it work work!
Yeah the latest firmware adress som drifting problem.
But I still belive that the HOLD GAIN is on the low side on the MB391 GTUNE file. But now you can experiment with, and adjust to your liking..

For 3D set the pirocomp to 80. For F3C I use around 50...

FF Gain
What would be the best to get heli more steady in hovering:

Setting the FF gain to 0 or increasing the Hold gain or both.

At the moment it feels if the heli is reacting to fast but I do not want to increase expo or decrease D/R in case it becomes necessary during a gust.

dont mess with FF yet.

Reduce ctrl gain, and add hold gain in small numbers.

More i-gain will make the heli withstand external distractions like wind etc.

I need to rephrase my question. The heli feels as if it is over reacting to my input. The D/R and expos are at the suggested values. Would lowering FF gain not make the reactions to my input a bit slower.

I only played with FF on 3D setups.
And only on rare occasions.

Did you set it up with 10 degrees cyclic pitch and not 12?

Try to lower ctrl gain,, and add a little hold gain.

I test flew my E550 on Sunday after rebuilding it due to a massive crash. At the same time I upgraded the firmware to 2.0.5. Found it very smooth in normal mode and pretty locked in with stunt 1. It was quite gusty with winds 10-17kph. However, did have some left aileron and rudder drift, so expect I need to do some tuning. One thing I did notice was that on the second flight, it took longer to initialise. The model was sitting on a table and the wind was causing it to move, so that may have been the reason. I tried it again with the model on the ground and it initialised ok, but not as quickly as on the previous flight. Did not have time to check it afterwards.

Yeah done the same myself.

On a windy day, took longer to init TAGS01, becuase the model whas rocking from the wind on the bench. Hade to re-init, and it whas good to go..
