Hi,

This weekend I tested my new FUTABA SBS-01G in a logo 600 SX and I am a little bit confused if the sensor is working.

First flight the speed on my L600SX was 226 km/h. I was stunned over the speed.

I never came close to this speed again. Most of the other flight with the same heli ended up at 148 km/h. Two flight at 178 km/h.

I also noticed an other thing. When I powered up the heli the GPS-sensor could use up to 5 min to find satellites.

Has any of you tested this sensor in a heli. Could it be that the sampling rate is to slow and it is hard to measure the speed in a heli with this sensor.

Regards

I run the GPS sensor in 2 helis. Was it a windy day and were you going downwind. The sensor only measures ground speed, not actual speed. Both sensor are pretty accurate in their readings

Hi,

A little bit windy, but can't explain the big difference in speed.

GPS Servo
ehaga,

I am traveling right now. When I get home at the end of the week I will check what my refresh rate is. off the top of my head I think it is .5 seconds, but I want to confirm the setting. just out of curiousity, how were you measuring your previous speeds?

thanks
Dave Roland

Hi,

Greate.

I just looked at the Max speed that was recorded during each flight. I am using a 18MZ and this is one of the values that it shows.

As with all GPS based devices, the accuracy depends on how many signals are bouncing off satelites.

I would say your first reading was probably during a time when it was trying to find it's bearings and initialised properly. A Logo600SX would never be able to get anywhere near 226km/h. Around the 150-160km/h mark is more logical.

I've used the SBS-01G on my Eagle and it has registered approx 160-170km/h during my F3C routine which seems feasable.
