I picked up a few used GensAce 6s packs for my Trex 550e which turned out to be taller (& shorter) than standard 6s packs. First time I'd seen that size profile. They're a bit too tall to comfortably fit under the canopy of the 550, but they do fit if installed 90 degrees. Only difference is that the aluminum plate wrapped around the cells is not on the sides, but I can add a protective plate if necessary. Other than that, would it work?

It should work fine. What mah rating and c count are they?

That might be why they aren't fitting, the 60c's are fat. So which ever way it can fit will be it. Are you a real stick banger for the need of 60c lipos?

Nope, they were just a good deal on the used market and all of my regular sources were out of the high-capacity (4500+ mAh) 6s packs.

I understand that but those 60c packs are huge. I'm just a sport flier and I only get 30c packs. Good power and not too heavy and thick.

Guess I overlooked the c rating when picking them up, from the photo they looked like my usual packs. They fly fine, just a tight fit under the hood.

That's one down fall to large C rating packs.

Just make sure when you lay them on the side.. the tank clunk goes all the way to the bottom...(So you get all the MAH out?)

I have the same packs and I have put them on there side. I have a 60C and a 30C and they are the same size. They don't fit well in many helis even 700s. I just got an E5 and that will fit them.

I have a 3D heli, I don't understand why it doesn't do 3D

Did you do anything to supplement the protective aluminum plate that only appears on the 'normal' top/bottom of the packs? Or just strap them babies in and go?
