I am in the process of renovating my Trex 550 with some new electronics, Helicommand HC3-SX, and a Castle Creations Talon 90 ESC. I was using the stock ESC but with the HC3-SX I’ve heard it would be best to upgrade so I chose the Talon for its BEC Amp rating. I have the motor wired to the ESC, went through the settings with the Castle Link, upon powering up the ESC I get 6 beeps for the 6 cells in the LiPo but after that the ESC LED is flashing red continuously. The LED diagram states for a solid red LED it is a powered ESC notice and the motor should beep every 10 seconds to let you know the power is on, the motor is not beeping every 10 seconds in this case.

I have the Gov mode selected, Using an 11x TX, I have the Gov assigned to ch 8 on the HC3-SX, Aux-3 in the TX.

I saw a video for setting throttle stick endpoints but with GOV mode selected that selection is not available, so I have not set endpoints on the TX or in the ESC.

Any help would be welcome!
I am at work currently so I may not be able to get back with replys right away.

Thanks,
Howard

Try setting the throttle to the heli-fixed endpoint option first, then calibrate the TX/ESC to each other, then select your desired governor mode.

Yep, I did do that.

In the video that I watched on Castles site, he set the endpoints as low as they could go, i believe it was 30 each way. On my 11x I can go all the way to zero, which I did. Now looking back on it, probably shouldnt have gone so low. In the video though he was at 30, with a linear throttle curve, raised the stick up to full position then began to increase the endpoint value waiting for the beep, It hit max value 150, never beeped.

Still no luck with setting the endpoints.

When setting endpoints;
-I have the TX in normal mode with a linear throttle curve 0 - 100
-In travel adjust, brought both up and down settings to a number below 30.
-In the TX, I inhibited the Gov mode that was on Aux 3.

-In the ESC I have it set to Fixed endpoints
-I have tried to set endpoints with the BEC plugged to the RX and not pluged to the RX.
-I cant have the BEC plugged to the Castle link when the power is connected to the ESC, it will not do anything, no beeps for the LiPo count until I unplug the Castle Link.

Any other suggestions?

I called them yesterday, was given Clint's E-mail, sent him a message, have not heard back yet.

I keep going over this in my head,
Is it an ESC issue? Castle Talon 90
Is it a Radio issue? JR 11X
Is it a Helicommand issue? HC3-SX
Or all three?

I read somewhere to not have throttle hold set below zero, doing this may screw something up. I will have to check this to see where it is.

Figured out what was wrong. On the helicommand I had the Throttle/BEC plugged into the battery slot between the tail servo and one of the head servos. It is supposed to be 2 slots away from the USB connection slot.

Now I have to wait til I have time to try out my new gear.
Thanks for the help cstoutr, as well as others that made suggestions.
