Im trying max my flight time on goblin 700 and just realized im over geared big time. When I built the heli geared for 2200 gov but using v bar gov I find 2000rpm works perfect for me. With that being said, im running a 24 tooth pulley but the hs im using only requires a 20 tooth. Now the big ??? Will I see an increase in flight time if I drop down to a 20 tooth?

For sure!!! How much? depends on many other factors.

If all other factors stay the same, you will definitely gain some.

Let us know how much more flying time you get when you gear down

I'm sure other goblin pilots would like to see your results.

Cheers,
Raven

I will test by the end of the week. The goblin came with a 20 tooth so I will switch it out soon.

I had a 450 trex clone that I could milk 10 minute FT out of it with mild throttle setting and gearing down the 3700 KV motor to a ten tooth pinion. Nothing got hot and it was smooth. I had run 9 T but the pinion didn't have enough meat to be durable. Gear down, less current. longer flight times.

+1 ^^

I went from a 12T to a 10T. Lowering the HS and other adjustments allows me 17 min. of flight.

What motor KV, etc...

Especially with FBL as you have option always best to find the sweet spot of torque. You can lower HS and raise agility and the pitch for "when you need it" if you are geared torqure wise no need for real high head speed. That being said I was very happy with 2150 max with the G700. I was running 500 KV and 21 tooth, if you're 520 KV then certainly 20 or perhaps 19 tooth may get you where you want to be if you are 100% settled on 2000rpm HS being what you want.. When you do make the change, bang it as hard as you would all out, look for "full throttle" alarms in the log, if you seem them anything before you have flown past 75% of flight you surely need to go up a tooth count. That's the ticket in using the log feature the Vbar has for certain and will assist you to find the right pinion. Go down till you see that then up one .

Maxing flight time on a Goblin is like driving a Ferrari for lowest consumption.
Get a low RPM Machine for long flying fun.
