I have been flying Futaba gyros for years and understand the AVCS mode as it applies to tail gyros. How does this apply to the CGY750? While setting up the 750, I noticed that the cyclic channels can also be in AVCS mode and this has me concerned. My concern is that If I move the cyclic stick before lifting off the swash will lean to an unlevel position and stay there. Will this be a problem when I fly? Am I supposed to lift off in normal mode and then switch into AVCS, or does everyone lift off in AVCS mode? Am I supposed to switch to normal and then back to AVCS just before liftoff to level the swash? Should I test fly in normal mode to adjust everything for a hands off hover?

I have a tendency to over think things so this may be the case here. Any info would be appreciated.

The AVCS system works the same on all gyros.

I had it turned on by accident on a non-Futaba FBL system and it created havoc.

I would recommend reading the set up manual on that one.

I boot the system in Normal mode and then change to AVCS after lift (I have the option to do that with the 8FG/CGY750 combo). with my BeastX, I have to be careful that the swash is level before lift as It's always on AVCS mode.

Do your trim flight in normal mode, then toggle your gyro switch to store the trim settings into AVCS memory.

Spool heli up in normal to stabilse the head, switch to AVCS and then lift of and fly.

I find it flies with the feel of a good Flybar and very predictable.

Never had any issues just flying in AVCS mode.

Good suggestion, thanks . I have read through the instructions several times and am just trying to clear up some questions I still have.

I have a switch to set the gain and AVCS but only use it to switch to normal mode for trim flights. Normally it's in AVCS mode all the time with no issues. I do however take care not to move the stick around while one the ground. If I do bump it and see the swash unlevel I will switch to normal mode and let the swash level. Can't remember the last time I had to do that though.

I don't need a switch to switch between AVCS and Norm. I use AVCS all the way for all 3 axis.

If I turn on the power in the lift off, then no need to care about the disc will tip, as none of the spool up did this. If I turn on the power and carry the heli to the lift off spot, then I visuallise the swash plate and stick level it before spool up. Again, all of the spool up resulted in straight up.

I think the key is to give a more or less level swash for the spool up. Once the rotors gain speed, the gyro will do its job and it done well.

For the trim flight, I have the question initially as I was told it is mandatory for ver 1.2 or earlier. Since I tried trim flight after v1.3 few times, I can not get it trim in Norm mode as the trim changes even in dead air, I just disregard it.

What I did is to set the CG right at the mast, set up the swash plate level in NORM and switch it back to AVCS and go fly.

I did this with my Trex, TDR and my friend's Diabolo. So far so good.

I've been flying 3 models with CGY 750s (had one the week it was released). I have never switched to Normal before taking off. I've always flown in AVCS from power on to power off for 100s of flights, never had an issue with tipping on takeoff.

We assign all three gyro's to one switch and flip to Normal prior to spool up to level the swash then back to AVCS. If you don't touch the cyclic during spool up, the heli will lift off level.

This really helps after auto's when you are not certain where the swash is in AVCS mode.

Not absolutely necessary but it prevents unexpected tilt when lifting off.

set the gyro mode to you flight condition switch , Ie , normal mode will have rate mode assigned, Then idle up 1 , 2 and hold will have AVCS mode assigned, So you will always be spooling up on rate mote
If you have a hot start ect, then AVCS mode is the smaller of your problems
