I JUST GOT THE Traxxas QR-1 and like the little quad but I've found that the arms are fragile as hell and broke one when it hit the ground in the living room with only just 6 flights. I can get replacement body for only $15 but dang i better get 3 spare bodes.. anyone mod theirs yet like a different frame?

BTW it flips and barrel rolls quick and fairly easy.

You can see the the patch i made on the frame arm with the Zip-tie.

You should switch those orange blades to the front...

Most people fly the colored blades forward. I don't know why Traxxas put them in the back.

Remember they are not the same. Look close theres an A and B on each one. The blades would be moved diagonally.

I like mine and have many flights but the Tx sure could use some improvement. Much too toy like IMO. My rudder stick response is bad requiring way too much movement even in high rate. I moved the orange blades to the front. Still when the wind is blowing and snow is flying I can fly in the house

True ill try that out!
I just replaced my frame and this baby flys like new!

Try opening an interior door and landing on the edge! Not as easy as you would think I've done it twice outa 10 try's..

HUTCH964,
Have not had it outside yet and the ceilings are too low for an attempt in the house.

Understand that with the cold your having up there!
Here it was 70*f ..

Doing the flip:
You want to give full positive collective at almost the same time quick full forward then full back and hold back until the flip is done its takes like 2 seconds to perform this flip I've git it to flip in about 2feet without losing much altitude .

Rolls are the same way..

Only let off full collective when the QR-1 starts to climb to much for the space your flying in..

Hope this helps.

Tim,
Thanks for the input. I have been flying the MQX in Phoenix and doing flips and rolls. Need a bit warmer day before venturing out with the QR1.

Tim,
I am still on the fence on an outdoor Quad. Having so much fun with the QR1 I want a larger machine for outside this spring.

I just did th straw mod on my QR-1 to prevent the shaft from going thru the bottom of the motor on an inverted crash. I almost did that last night it popped the plastic lose in one motor but was able to push it back on. So it was time for the mod!

Surferguy I don't know how to help ya other than send it back to horizon hobby...

Gary
I have a DJI F450 I'm adding Tmotors to along with GPS. I like this quad very much!
