I am just double checking before I place my order. Both the 60sr and 55 hz fit the SDX with no mods to the frame, correct? Probably get whichever they have in stock at the LHS, but wanted to be sure either fits with no mods needed.

I don't know about the YS 60SR but the 55HZ fits fine.

I've got a Novarossi 57 in mine. There is plenty of room around the head. So I suspect you will have no trouble fitting either engine you listed.

Rexxi, I had been thinking of the Novarossi a while back, but the popularity seems to have really dropped. Any chance you have had both the 55hz and the 57 to compare?

freakyreef, I've had the OS55HZ, but it was in a different heli (N5). I think the 57 is way more powerful. But you have to have it reved up pretty high to keep it from going in and out of the boost created by the turbo crank. That means a headspeed of about 2150-2200 on the SDX. If you plan to run lower headspeed get the YS or OS.

Thanks Rexxi. After I had posted, I remembered that it did need a higher HS to be happy.

Ordered the OS 55, now if I can just find a b320 or Outrage Evo pipe to go with it. Out of stock everywhere I am looking on both pipes.

Is this what you are looking for?

I have 55 in my SDX, plenty of power and a really nice engine.

Exactly. Many thanks. I am ordering this pipe and going to give it a try. A price of 20 bucks just doesn't sound right compared to a $120 pipe, but I have seen some good reviews on it. I may regret it, but hey it's only 20 bucks right?

Your welcome. For $20 why not, I've read good things about them also, I have the B320 on my 55 but as you found out those are out of stock everywhere. For some reason the Outrage and Funtech seem to be hard to find. That started last summer/fall. Helidirect is probably just trying to clear out old stock. When they do that they have some sweet deals like that,

Not sure why the Funtech and Outrage are out of stock everywhere. Maybe new models coming out this year.

Found a Funtech 320. Might get the Outrage Evo as well just to try it out and compare.

Grrr. Got the new engine and pipe installed. Go through my preflight and find a weak servo..... One of my trusty ole 9252's is on it's way out. Guess it's time to upgrade servos now. It's been a while since I bought servos, last ones I bought were Aligns and I hated them. Any good choices for a good Futaba servo that won't break the bank? I was looking at BLS 451's. Still just amazed at the cost of servos compared to when I was a kid.

The BLS451 is a very good servo. However, If you are getting new why not get some HV rated servos. The BLS255 is a good choice.

After looking, the HV servos arent that much more than standard voltage.... Think I will go with a three pack of JR 8917HV servos. I have always used Futaba (short trial of Align servos, then got rid of them). About time to give JR a try I guess.
Only other one I was looking at was the Protek 230T servos. Specs look good, but I can't find much info on them.
