I'm interested in this as well. I was going to go os 105 on my rebuild but I'm open to the gasser route if it's not major surgery. I'm particularly interested in how the clutch holds up.

That's great. That's more than enough grunt for anything I'll be doing.

Mdu6, is that your heli? Do you know what muffler that is? Was a significant amount of hacking done to the frames for fitment?

Thanks for the vid

no - not my heli

http://www.osengines.com/engines-he...1915/index.html

If you look at the dimensions - the mounting bolt pattern is the same as a 90 size Nitro engine:

Head 5mm wider (57mm instead of 52mm for the 90 Nitro)
Head 6.8mm taller (88mm instead of 81,2 for the 90 Nitro)

Muffler bolts for both engines are sitting at 42,8mm above lugs.

Crankshaft is about 15mm shorter out of the engine (32mm instead of 47mm for the 90 Nitro) - but this is probably because of the drive hub that we might be able to do without (?).

Strangely the front bearing is marked to be 0,370 instead of the 0,375 for the 90 Nitro.

But all in all it does not seem to require a lot of modification to get it installed.

As far as muffler - it could be the GT15HZ PowerBoost Pipe

If I get one

I'll slap a 90 nitro muffler on it, it will work, after all the exhaust is the same as the nitro version isn't it? That simple flat exhaust for it is too expensive and is ugly.

It seems a bit underpowered. How did it feel?

U may separate the welds if u use a nitro muffler. Gas exhaust is hotter. Some have held up but not sure of which ones. There is a power boost pipe for that engine. Zimmerman may have one as well.

Pipes for OS15cc gas engine

Mac's Products makes some really neat performance enhancing pipes for heli's. They have been making pipes and mufflers for years. I have used them with great success, and have noticed a good improvement in performance, depending on the installation, and the engine used. Webra, and YS engines really wake up with the use of a TRUE TUNED PIPE. I intend to use a Mac's Products pipe on a GT15cc engine in the near future. I'm quite sure it will give the GT15 more usable RPM, and power.

Do they use a different kind of weld for gasoline engine pipes and mufflers? Many of the top makers of pipes and mufflers in the USA, use aircraft aluminum for the construction and Tig welding. Now, if you buy from China, who knows what kind of sub-grade material, and quality control you will get. If you want to enhance performance, try Mac's Products. They have tons of experience, and reasonable prices, unlike Hatori.
