Ouch!!
Mind, saying that, the frames look OK on first glance.
Apart from the usual, what else was damaged?

Ouch is right! Sorry! Thats a site I don't like to see, That was the main reason I sold mine. Looks like it could be pretty expensive.

Well, the crash reason is probably that the wire between the VBar and the Sbus receiver came unplugged. My fault, I think I disturbed it when I put the canopy on...

The heli was in hover about 20 meter high, I put full pitch on and had a full shut down... No more motor and rx... The good point (I thought...) was that the heli fell under its own weight, no motor power was on, one blade was is still like new, not a single scratch, so I thought it was a pretty "soft" crash...

Back to reality when I did a quick check!
1 broken frame,
Destroyed canopy...
Tail boom and torque tube bent,
Main shaft and spindle shaft,
All head aluminum parts bent (hub, swash follower arms, blade grip arms)
Blades.
Landing gear.

I will probably discover more once I start the rebuild...

It is at least a 500euro crash at this time.

I am not disappointed as I knew this would be an expensive machine to crash.

The real conclusion is that the level of damage on this machine is huge compared to a similar crash on a smaller machine! The 800 class is definitely a step above...

Anyway, the parts are received (thanks to fastlad UK!). I will post more details as the rebuild progresses...

This is not going to change my mind, I love this machine...

Is it me or this time the ground was higher than last time??

If you lost connection here , I cut a strip of servo tape & install it across the ends to hold them in the V Bar. The red strip, at the bottom of first photo, is the servo tape.

That is exactly what I do, paranoid, but never had a wire pull out
That crash is the ONLY reason I sold my XXtreme. I know eventually they all go down and I could not bear to see it
Mine was 16s and a straight up monster!!!

I have a 3D heli, I don't understand why it doesn't do 3D

Try putting "goop" across where the servos plug into the vbar or rx. It is easy to peel off when you wanna pull a servo and adds a little extra piece of mind. Hope this helps.

Sorry about your loss, however, I do have a friend that has some glue left over from one of his crashes, do you think "that'll" help?

This works good,

I also use hot glue to hold in my plugs and it works like a charm. peels off in one piece if I need it too.

Quick...here comes my wife....hide that new Heli !!!!

ok, so rebuilt is now well underway.

First conclusion: there is more damage than anticipated.
- top and bottom main shaft bearings
- main head hub
- tail rotor spindle shaft.

The surprising thing is that for the same type of crash, a 700 would probably have suffered less damages. the weight is there...

The main hub design is wrong in my opinion, the swash driver should be independent and not done with 2 little harms directly machined in the hub, as it is now clear that each crash will bend these arms, and the hub will have to be replaced...

A comment to Mikado would be to sell tail the transmission shaft alone, no need for bearings and end connection as they are intact. The set is very expensive when you only need the shaft.

Overhaul the rebuild went well, i am waiting for the last bits and she will be back in the air. Working on the XXTREME is a real pleasure.

I forgot to mention that the break away plastic ESC mountings have worked as they broke and the ESC is not damaged...

I will epoxy glue the Sbus wire in the receiver!!! I can promise that it will not get unplugged again...

Is it me or this time the ground was higher than last time??

Hello,
Please explain what was damaged on the main rotor head center piece. I know the swash follower arms were damaged as you mentioned, but I would like to know how this damaged the main rotor hub.

Thanks,
