We used to do nothing but full down autos but they tear up the gear, so our guys practice power-recovery only. They do that full down stuff at Bell.

Those dolly landings are tricky because the pilots are scanning the horizon as well as looking thru the chin bubbles to spot the center of the dolly. When you don't see the dolly anymore your good.

it sure doesn't sound good from inside the heli. and the magnisium smellsf. also i use to land on a heli cart. its weird, the skids struts sit behind the pilot so your right the cart disappears under the window

Sweet, thanks for sharing that! I'm surprised, that the rate of decent didn't seem as fast as I thought it would be.

If it ain't broke, go fly some more!

Man that's cool!

Thanks for the vid. That's really smooth. Not what I thought when it came to full size autos.

Do you get nervous eventhough your laughing? Little pucker factor?

Its not bad. After the first one today I was fine. Before I started the vid, we shot 2 or 3. The first one my boss started laughing after he rolled off the throttle cuz I was like, Holy S! and grabbed for something to hold onto. Its only the initial 1st second of weightlessness that gets ya, the rest is just a steep approach. The flair at the end is abit nerve racking also cuz that ground comes up quick.

I'm really surprised with the vid quality. I shot it on my Galaxy S3 with the deshaker 'on'. Oh and the whole time we were on headsets we didn't think you would hear us talking over the aircraft noise. It didn't turn out bad.

Thanks for the reply.

I'd like to think I would enjoy it like a ride on a roller coaster, but I think I would be a little freaked out inside.

That's a great day at work You chose the right path, sir.
