Making a pretty interesting list. If you want to say something about any of the pilots your recommended to add a personal touch, go for it.

For me, I met Nick Maxwell here in Phoenix at the SW Rodeo. He was a really nice guy and flew great.

I took a couple of names off the list. I google and checked youtube today. Some flying did not appear to be what would be considered pro type flying or couldn't find anything at all.

There aren't too many true pro pilots who are on the company's payroll.

Jae-Hong Lee from South Korea has actually moved to China to do full time testing of KDS's new product. That is 8-10 hours per day 5-6days per week, much like any other job.

Whether fun or not, it no longer becomes a hobby but full time job that you are expected to perform your daily duties and of course expected to get paid at the end of the week/month.

Up until his move to China, he was much like most of US sponsored pilots who get equipment compensation, expense compensation etc.

I do hope that this hobby and the industry grows enough to support many such factory pilots on payroll.

I have met and flown with several of the pilots listed in this thread. I would say Matt Botos is probably one of the most humble pilots I have ever met.

Dmitry Gapeshin - Mikado Winner of 3DX Russia 2012 (Canada)
Alvin Chai - Gaui competitor 3D Masters (Canada)
Daniel Katzav - Mikado Competitor (Isreal)
Marius Mueller - Mikado Competitor (Germany)
Timo Wendtland - Mikado Competitor (Germany)
Poom Utinada "spelling" - Gaui Competitor (Hong Kong?)

Many other "proven" professionals

There are many others missing to many listed are not and have not ever been competing pilots or what are we considering as professional pilots? A pilot who has competed professionally or is competing professionally "currently" IMO should be those on list therefore list is smaller that way. I suppose it depends what you consider professional?
I'm far from it but love the hobby like everyone else I don't see need for classifications really it can be skewed easy depending on ones own interpretation.

I am trying my best to keep a standard. Not easy to do because many view the definition differently.

I received some good guidelines to go by. Lets see if we can make out a more accurate list.
A pro pilot not only receives product for free but is involved in the design and testing of that product.
A pro pilot may also be compensated for his participation.
Being a team pilot doesn't mean that you are a pro pilot. What it does mean is that you get a discount on product and are expected to demonstrate the product favorably.
Following these guidelines, Does anyone on the list not meet this criteria?

Can someone post a link showing rules that states what a Pro RC heli pilot is?Or is this one of them "my expert opinion" threads?

"Or is this one of them "my expert opinion" threads?"

I think that summed it up, sir!

Of course, now we have to figure out a definition of expert...
