Seems that every once in a while, a new name pops up for me. Would be nice to see a current list of pro/team pilots who are currently active. Feel free to copy/paste and add to the list. Please be sure to add who they are flying for.
A pro pilot not only receives product for free but is involved in the design and testing of that product.
A pro pilot may also be compensated for his participation.
Being a team pilot doesn't mean that you are a pro pilot. What it does mean is that you get a discount on product and are expected to demonstrate the product favorably.
"GREEN is considered pro status
Normal print are pilots either flying for a company/team pilot or have a popular standing.

I think Mr. Jetchin is flying for Compass, as of sometime last year:

This appears to be the case as of October 2012-I think it is still current.

I would sure think so.

I don't think Tareq's name has been posted here, either-he is certainly a pro!

Being associated doesn't make you pro. Being pro basically means that you make a living off the sport. In some cases, it can be considered as being sponsored and attend competitions. Like Justin Jee, he is an very good pilot, but is still very young and don't think he travels around doing competitions.

Is TAREQ AL SAADI with Align?

I don't think competing is, necessarily, a defining measure of a pro pilot.

I think that either getting compensated (paid full time, sponsored, or partially sponsored) for flying (whether it be through competition or doing public demos) would qualify. There are also people who used to compete, but don't anymore.

Of course a certain skill level (not sure how to define that) should be required. I think everyone on listed above meets or exceeds that skill level requirement.

One very prominent name missing from the list is Curtis Youngblood.

Robert Gorham is also flying again, I should think he would qualify. He was a pro pilot, long before some of those listed were around.

There are also people like Jason Chow, who is one of the best pilots I have even seen. I think he flew, very briefly for one or two manufacturers (doing testing). I don't know if he is still active.

Sergio from PiroFlip Hobbies is an outstanding pilot. I don't think he is known nationally, but he has quite a following on the west coast (he routinely and publicly beats up on a Goblin in spectacular fashion). As he owns a shop, I think he sponsors himself-does that qualify?

You have two types of pilots at different levels ---> Reps/Pros and not all Pros make a living flying helis so thats not correct..Few of the Pro pilots on your list have real life jobs..Thats how they travel, money from their own pocket..

If you look up the definition, that is one of the definitions. Obviously in this hobby and some other instances, the meaning can vary. You also missed a key point in the quote: "In some cases, it can be considered as being sponsored and attend competitions." My previous definition was not meant to be the absolute answer, just one of the definitions of pro.

Here are some of the definitions as per the dictionary.

following as a business an occupation ordinarily engaged in as a pastime: a professional golfer.

an expert player, as of golf or tennis, serving as a teacher, consultant, performer, or contestant; pro.

a person who is expert at his or her work:

Looking at the defintions, I have decided to add a bit more freedom to the list. Even though Justin Jee is young, he does seem to fit in this category and is a bit of a celebrity in his own right.
Darrin Reed-Align?
Tim Jones-?
Are they in this category? You seem a bit unsure.

One thing nice about this list is that we can see who is out there and what they are currently flying or being sponsored by.

Very few actually make a living off the sport. The few that do don't do it from flying alone.

The term "sport" was meant to be a general term to include all types of sports out there. My definitions were meant to be use more in broad terms than specific.

I don't know of any UAV's being used for competitions or sport.
