What infant mentality runs this state of North Korea. Don't they relize the US infrastructure is 3000 miles wide, while their's is 110 miles wide with a single city of any size (Pyongyang). Any hit on the US would bring total annihilation of the one city tiny state of North Korea.
It's a wonder how these morons even exists.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

You should do yourself a favor and look at the fallout patterns from the Castlebravo test (no, I'm not promoting myself). Look at the pattern superimposed over the eastern seaboard.
Yes....we could decimate North Korea with a few well placed sub-megaton nuclear weapons.....however....what are we planning on telling the Chinese and Russians who are just a few hundred kilometers away from the population centers? Not to mention South Korea and Japan who would almost certainly be affected regardless of wind patterns.

Its not an easy answer just saying "we would blow them off the face of the earth".....with nukes....there is no such thing as precision. Even a fairly "clean" weapon produces extremely high levels of fallout especially if the fireball interacts with the surface. The fission products mix with surface debris and create fallout that can contaminate vast swaths of land.

When North Korea is stacked up against the USA, they are as weak as a baby to a pit bull.

Conventional weapons can decimate their entire military structure within 3 days and leave them blind and helpless.

It might take 4 or 5 days to do Iran.

I did not mean to imply retaliation by nuclear means. Conventional means would wipe out the only city of any size in North Korea. As for Russia and China, they have already lodged complaints against NK for making such a statement. If NK did send an unprovoked nuke into the U.S. , Russia and China would not side with NK for such an act of total stupidity.

Should be at least as easy as Iraq and Afghanistan......heck....They didn't even have a viable airforce......We were out of there in 4-5 D......oh wait........11 years later.............

Yeah, guess castle.. is right, we should just lodge a complaint with the UN. That would fix it.

I never said we should just stand by pacifically......however it is never going to be as easy as some of you people seem to believe......that army across the boarder is no Iraqi or Afghan (Taliban) army. They have bunkers buried in solid granite that will be impervious to anything except high yield nuclear weapons.

Yes...if we are launched against....we should retaliate.....
Yes.....If we are attacked....we should defend ourselves and strike with the utmost of our capabilities and technology.

But to think it is going to be a cakewalk is foolish...........

A neutron weapon (or more correctly....Enhanced Radiation Weapon) is still a thermonuclear device...with yields between 5 -50KT. It is a misnomer that they do not destroy structures.....they still have the blast and heat effects of a device rated at those yields.

North Korea is neither a socialist or a communist country anymore......in fact there is no mention of Communism in their current constitution. They are strictly a Military First Totalitarian government.

Their entire "Mission Statement" is total hatred of the US. They dont even hate South Korea.....just the government that they feel are US puppets. They feel that the re-unification of the "Koreas" under Jong-Il is the best thing for all of Korea.
Their indoctrinated fear of the US will ensure that even people who have been through the "camps".....will fight to the death......even women and children....
The next war in Korea may be quick.....but it wont be easy.....

I have a family blood relative that is just beginning to talk about it - the 1st go around. Mobile automatic crew platform - division.

They were totally independent but went to the different infantry division's upon request - on call . Totally self contained from part's and repair to food and supplies - independents.

More than once they pulled the firing pin's and drove down the back side of the hill - Like drone's. Wave's -----
