I am in the process of putting together my Goblin 770 and decided to go 16s because I had a spare 4540 motor I have never used.

This motor is a Scorpion 4540/395KV 16s beast
ESC is a 16s enabled YGE 160 HV

Last night I fitted the packs just to see what would work and what wouldn't...well...I found out that the Pulse Ultra 45C 4s 3700mah 45c packs do in fact fit.

This is a 4x4s 3700mah configuration..and as you can see ...there's PLENTY of room ..

First off that set up looks bad ass, second that is hilarious that you have a spare Scorpion 4540/395KV sitting around. Please post a video of it flying.

I have a 3D heli, I don't understand why it doesn't do 3D

Can't find these on the pulse web site

Where did you buy them? Do you have a link?

Thanks

Pulse packs..

I got these at Helidirect...they're just 4s 3700mah 45c packs

as for the scorpion 4540--I'm a bit of a motor freak...I bought a couple of these when they were offered and ended up using one...but never got around to using this one ...until now

should be fun

Thanks for the link

SAB recommends the upper end for 14s is 5000 mah

Figuring this out on an energy density basis, you'd need slightly less than 4400 mah each for 16 cells to equal a 14s 5000 mah setup ( in energy density that is)

I wonder what kind of flight time 16s 3700 mah is going to give? Probably less than 4 minutes??

It's nice that these fit, I bought a pair for my 16s build because at least I know this will be a light 770 for sure with those batteries.

and too bad that 4400 mah batteries are so scarce.

I've got an email off to gens ace, I hear they make custom batteries. They do offer a 4400 mah 7s and 6s 65c. One "the other forum" I know a member who custom ordered 8s from them, not sure of the mah of that though.

Thunder power make an 8s 4400mah that will fit. Lot$ of money for tho$e batteries though.

14s and 16s

I run a few of my other goblins on 12s 4400-4500mah and get 4 1/2 minutes of hard flying ...

12s 5000mah is not necessary in my opinion...14s 5000mah on the 770 is even too much...I wouldn't go any heavier than 4400-4500 on 14s with the 770

I have a wolf 800(spinning 800's) and flew that last summer on 12s 5000mah and was getting well over 4 1/2 minutes

I now have that converted to 14s 4500 and its awesome..

with 16s on this heli 3700mah is more than enough...higher voltage pulls less amperage and by keeping it lighter it flies better in my opinion.

i'll give it a go and see what kind of flight times I get...

here's my 12s 800mm wolf on 12s 5000mah..technically 16s 3700mah should have just as long a flight time

Hey, bought a set just after you told me where you got them... Yet

goblin recommends 4500 to 5000 for the 14s goblin 770

So the flight time on 16s 3700 will be somewhat less than 14s 4500. Not a whole lot less, the energy density is within 7 percent of the 14s 4500 pack.

But

The difference in efficiency between 14 and 16s just isn't that much, not like the difference between say, 6s and 12s, and I don't think it will make up much of that 7 percent. And the motors we are using have bigger cans and staters so will need more amps than the 12s motors...

But we'll see when you post your results what the time is.

I bought a set of the pulse, but I expect we'll be getting less than 4 minutes.

Can't wait to find out though, I am a ways off from even starting my 770 though I have almost all the components and the kit.

Can't wait to see what you find out.

Personally, for my next pack I am looking for 4200 or 4400 mah for 16s. 4400 if I can find something besides thunder power ( because of the cost)

And email to gens ace factory reveals they do make a 4400 mah 4s

More details to come.

Hobbypartz does not stock it.

Don't know who does, doing some searches now

And they did not state the C rating

I realize this is at the upper limit, making the energy density just a teensy bit more than a 14s 5000mah setup

4200 would be perfect, right in the middle.

4000 would be ok ( hobbypartz is out of stock on 4000mah 4s)

And again I am happy to have an order pending n the pulse 3700. All my helis have at least one "light pack" because I do agree that a lot of helis fly best ( if not so long) on a lighter pack.
