hi, all, i have scratch built my attack helicopter fuselage for my Trex500 DFC, i have flew this for the past i week, the helicopter perform very well,

the fuselage is made of thin corrugated board and basswood, i have to draw out the shape on the corrugated board and bend to shape, the body is a one piece of board without joining, the canopy is another piece,

i waterproof the whole fuselage after the shape is done, spray primer, sand with sand paper, spray actual colour, draw panel line, spray dark grey along the panels,

the next step is to create numbers and words in the computer, i print it out as water sliding decal, and apply on the fuselage,

the machine gun in front is made of basswood, cut every pieces and join them together, the most challenging parts is the missiles, to create 8 missiles, i have to patiently cut out from basswood, shape, sand, join all parts together,

after final check on the fuselage, i spray 2K clear coat to the fuselage, and spray a thin coat of matt clear to the fuselage after the 2K is dried,

i enjoy the built very much, it is a very good experience to build a custom helicopter fuselage,

see attached photos, enjoy, thanku

hi, all, thanku for the good words,

i wanted to built my own fuselage for a long time ago, after can't find the 500 size super cobra, i decided to built my own, i build the first one early last december, but that fuselage is heavy and it wasn't look like attack helicopter, so i go on doing this one,

i spend quite some time this round to try to get the shape i wanted, it have to look like attack helicopter somehow, so, some corrugated board was throw away when the shape is no right,

it took me near one month to fully completed the fuselage from the first day i started working,

i will try to do up a video this weekend,

thanks again,

Do you have a pattern template you could sell to us not so creative people? A PDF file we could print and make our own body from would be great. Hope you give it some thought!

hi, i don't have a template draw first before working on this fuselage, i make a few mistake on the first few try on the body, and when i get the basic structure right, i just have to be very careful to measure and fold, can't afford to make any mistake anymore, and like wise for the canopy,

Nice! I like the creative use of corrugated material and the fact that the entire main fuse was constructed from 1 piece. I used to fab aerospace precsion sheetmetal parts, so I know how difficult it is to make a complicated part from 1 piece of material. GOOD JOB!

you are right, Mojave, to built using i piece of material without joining, one have to be extra careful not to make mistake, for my case on the corrugated board, once fold, the folding line will be there, there is no undo,

hi, Gearhead, it does look quite futuristic from certain angle, i think this fuselage can be a flying craft in the japanese manga,
