Having been out of action for nearly 2 weeks Unable to lift anything heavier than a sugar cube Dave picked me up for a flight at the field.
We did not expect there to be much snow as it has melted quite a bit. We were surprised when we got there how much snow and how blumming cold it was.
Managed a flight on the turbine and a flight on the Xcell.

Was a nice challenge, flying a white disc, white skids, on the xcell it disapeared against white sky and white ground. Still enjoyed getting out.

Nothing compared to some of the USA guys, who get snow fall in feet, we only need a few inches and our country grinds to a halt.

Dave chickened out flying.

Man, that makes me cold just looking at the pix. I'm too much of a wimp to fly in that kind of weather/temp. FWIW, here in Granbury it is currently 74 degrees, sunny skies.

I don't fly in cold weather either. About 6 degrees out here in PA right now. Our club does fly indoors at a local armory with little electrics. About the only thing to do with a 450 in there is hover around. I guess it's good, gives a break from flying and something to look forward to.

Thanks Darren,

no one at field..

I saw photo's of IMF kids playing over weekend at the field, so i thought oh it will be melted by now, the snow had fallen sun night into monday and covered over most of the tracks.

ok it was only about 6 inches, but it still meant Dave had to get the shovel out LOL as i could not lift -- my excuse, but it was cold, managed two flights and cup of tea in the club house.

yeah,
On the oil pump cos i am running 1.5v - it turns really slow, and after no run time it can stick and the voltage is too low to free up, so i run a higher voltage which is normally what is uses as a fuel pump and it burst into life.
So it just means every month of non flying i just run it to keep it free.
As to Turbine, on one of the lypos the cells was was under performing, after testing it, so there was not enough power as data download showed. Well the lypos are 5 yrs old and have been well used.
So i replaced and charged and it started first time..

Got to make some custom clothes hanging rails for some cupboards out of 5mmx40mm stainless steel as they are 45 degree and you can not buy them anywhere and let's me play with my toys lol

No I'm making some custom trex 700 gears at work Tom to allow me to run lower head speed but keep tail speed up will post in another thread if works ok.

Then I have a couple of sets of turbine mechanics to design and build so its house 1 job toys at least 5 got to get the correct ratio house to toys lol.

Darren.
