How do you get rid of the tail wag on the 450? I have turned down the gain to the point of the flybarless system (7200bx) cannot hold the tail during a hard climb out.

Check for binding or something bent. I had to lower my gain a few points compared to my larger helis running the 7200 to get rid of the wag when I stress the tail, but it still holds like a rock.

make sure the tail grip bearings are ok. mine were fine out of the box but others have had them fail first flight.

Don't over tighten the main bolts and be careful with locktight application.

I have a 3D heli, I don't understand why it doesn't do 3D

How about getting rid of the stock tail rod assembly?

Does anyone make a carbon rod setup for the tail control rod.

I run a CF rod on mine. I haven't used the stock wire type tail pushrods in years on 450's and 250's. Get a section of CF and JB Weld a section of threaded rod into the ends. Make sure it ends up the correct length. shrink wrap over the ends to make it look nice.

@jschenck

Do you use a support piece on the carbon rod?

Can you post a picture of your setup?

2100? Or 3100? The tail is really geared for 3000 and higher. I think the headspeed is too low to hold the tail. I could be wrong, I've never run it that low.

The 520 is an excellent tail servo. Barring headspeed, take a look at the tail grip bearings like others have suggested. Some go bad and bind up when there is pull in them.

BTW are the guides for the tail pushrod secure? Is a straight shot to the tail?

I just made one for mine out of a piece of carbon rod and two ball links. I had to drill out the linkage end of the link a little, but that's easy. Then I just glued the links on with CA.

If you skip me I can't play!

I believe the carbon rod was 1/8" diameter.

Try and get it as straight as possible and secure the loose clamp.

You didn't mention, are you running 2100?

I don't know why align never made a long carbon push rod 450 size. The use to have one for the 450XL is too short for 450pro

I used the rod that came with the kit, cut it off so a couple inches goes into the CF tube. Rough it up with some sand paper, coat it with JB weld. Make sure to work in the JB Weld into the CF tube. Let it sit at least a day, making sure it's set that the same length as the original rod.
