Hey,

As the subject title suggests, I am looking for a 21tooth aluminium clutch bell or a 48 tooth pulley wheel for my Nova Cuatro. If anyone wants to sell me one please get in touch.

Thanks,

Bhavik

I might have one of the two, I'll have to look. I'll get back with you on this.

Thanks for having a look but I would not trust a plastic pulley with a turbine cuatro.

Cheers,

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's all I have in that size. It's here if you decide you can use it, I don't imagine I'll need it.

I need to find an extremely small one, 33 teeth! I'm trying to get the gearing for a Laser 150 fourstroke that only spins at 8500 rpm!

Theres a 38tooth aluminium pulley on ebay along with a 27tooth clutch bell, don't know if that will be any good to you?

I'll probably have to find something close and adapt it somehow.

I already have a 36 tooth pulley on the clutch and if I keep the 2nd stage gearing (15 tooth pinion and 73 tooth main) I actually have to gear UP in the first stage if I want to get anywhere near 1900 headspeed.

The Laser was generally only used with 800mm blades and very low headspeed. I want to run a standard size Futura SE with 700mm blades at a decent headspeed.

Obviously the other approach would be bigger pinion and / or smaller main gear but that seems most likely a more difficult route than just finding one pulley.

I have just found a 48tooth aluminium pulley from MoskitoWorld in Germany, there are more in stock if anyone else is interested.

Sheryl, he also has 60tooth brass main gears - don't know if this would help with your petrol project?

Hmmm, a 60 tooth main gear, I'll have to look into that. It would need either a much larger pinion or a different bearing block for the right spacing.

I bought that 38 tooth rear pulley so I can start the project with that and it should give me a bit over 1800 headspeed but ideally I'd like a little more.

I have spoken to the Laser engine people and it can rev higher, up to 9500 or so, but the max power is between 8000 and 9000 rpm so that's ideally what it should be geared for.

My bad Sheryl, it's actually a 50 tooth brass main gear that he sells.

robbe used to do a bearing rail for this small brass main gear that bought the 15 tooth pinion closer to the main gear.

Well, I'll look into that because if I could find the bearing rail for it (and I may have one among the stuff I have) then it would make it easy to get the overall ratio down where it needs to be.

Someone mentioned Redlodge scale helicopters and I'll ask them if they know of a smaller rear pulley that can be adapted and then I think you can get belts in all sizes.

The 50 tooth brass gear works with a 10 tooth pinion, which was for the older Futura/futura gold.
I have this brass gear in my Hughes 300C with Futura gasser mechanics.
Works fine, for starters add a very little lithium grease otherwise you're heli will be covered in brass dust

Eric.
