Hey folks, I'm looking to possibly purchase the Hitec X4 Plus AC/DC 4 PORT Multi Charger 44167. Does anyone have any experience with this charger pros/cons? Thanks for the help.

What do you plan on charging with it?

50watt per channel is going to limit your 6s lipo charge rate and doesn't leave any room for big 6s packs (5000mah) and you might decide that charge times over and hour is too long.

Charge 3s 2200mah
50 / (4.1v per cell * 3) = 4.06amp max effective charge rate is 4.06 / 2.2 = 1.85C (read mfr specs for max charge rate)

Charge 6s 2500mah
50 / (4.1 * 6) = 2.03amp, max effective charge rate is 2.03 / 2.5 = 0.812C

Charge 6s 5000mah
50 / (4.1 * 6) = 2.03amp, max effective charge rate is 2.03 / 5.0 = 0.406C

Take 60min and divide by your effective C rating to get an approximate charge time.

3s 2200mah = 60 / 1.85 = 32min
6s 2500mah = 60 / 0.812 = 74min
6s 5000mah = 60 / 0.406 = 148min

Numbers are a rough estimate of what you can expec from your setup.

Thanks Wynn that's why I asked. I had one that worked great for my Trex 450 batteries but, that's about it.

You will need to spend a bit more money on one or two power supplies however, IMHO this is the way to go for 6s packs. I'm running two IOTA DLS-45's in series to provide 24 Volts to the PowerLab 8's. This type of setup will charge pretty much whatever you throw at it.

Yes, thanks for the reply. I'm looking for something to charge my 450 3D and T-rex 600 with. I like the AC/DC option with the built in power supply, keeps from having two units sitting there and having to purchase two different things for charging. Not sure I like the hour+ wait time though. Thanks for the information.

I would suggest the iCharger 306B (EP Buddy) and two Dell PowerEdge 2950 (or HP) 750w power supplies (eBay).

The iCharger is around $150 at EP Buddy and the Dell power supplies can be bought on eBay for around $20 each.

You wire the 2 power supplies in series and they will deliver 24v at 750w to the iCharger.

The iCharger will charge up to 1000w and you can charge all cell counts in parallel using their "octopus" parallel charging and balancer cable bundles.

I charge two 6s 5500mAh packs in parallel at 3C (30amp) - full charge in 20 min.
I charge four 3s 2200mAh packs in parallel at 3C (27amps) - full charge in 20 min

You get the idea.
