Does anyone know where I can pick up some 520 mm main blades for my concept 30 nitro heli.

With the advent of the 550 size heli, blades in the 515 to 523 mm range can be had anywhere. It's been a long time since I owned a Concept 30, does it have an oddball blade root thickness?

Edge makes 523's. make sure you use the firmest dampeners you can find. That flapping blade grip head will boom strike if you land just a little hard. Maybe more so with blades heavier than the lightweight foam and plastic blades the c30 came with.

That was my first heli... I watched it skid across the ground with the head spooled up as I had lost control due to the on/off switch vibrating itself into the "off" position. I think it ran out of fuel and never did any damage. Can't remember what happened to that heli though.

If the root width is 12 mm as you PM'ed me, just about any 515 to 520 mm blade that fits a Trex 550 should work. The Align 520 mm blades have a 12 mm root. They also have a 4 mm bolt hole but you can step that down to 3 mm using brass tubing.

MS Composit has 515mm blades with 12 mm root and 3 mm Hole. See if Ron Lund at Heliproz South can hook you up. They are listed on his site bit are sold out.

HeliProz sold Mavverick 515mm blades that worked well on my Raptor 30 v1.

Raptor 30 V1 and Kyosho Concept are different animals, the flapping bit is not the problem here. I believe at one point the Concept 30 used 8 mm blade roots, but you could swap the grips from another Kyosho heli to allow you to use the more common 12 mm blades as the supply of Kyosho stock blades and aftermarket blades dried up.

Bottom line is, if in doubt, pick up the phone and call your favorite hobby shop and ask what the root thickness is before you buy.

Sorry I thought someone mentioned a possible concern about flapping hinges and boomstrikes. He didn't mention which Concept 30 model he had. I too had Concept 30 SR-X's which had 12mm grips. The earlier models like the DX had 8mm. Also I wouldn't use anything larger than 530mm main blades due to blade weight, T/R interference, and load. The Concept rotor head in stock form was made of plastic and designed to give in crashes. The spindles bent easily and the blades were fiberglass spars with a foam core and plastic covering. If my memory serves me correctly, the paddles were metal. The SR-X and SR-T were plastic. If you use to large a blade, you're putting stress on that plastic head that it wasn't designed to operate at. There was a metal head available from Zeal.
HeliProz has 515mm Mavrrik flybar blades in wood and CF. Like Dave said, get the heli shop to measure the blade root to be sure unless it's OEM or an aftermarket replacement.

You're right Barracuda. I was up late thinking of my Concept 30, Raptor 30, and Shuttles and had only my memory. The Raptor doesn't have a flapping hindge head.

Bull. I ran my Nexus .30 with the flapping head using no dampers at all, and the only boom strike i had was the result of a ball link letting go on my first flight.

The Concept 30 SE (original non-trainer) was the first tiny heli that I saw that hovered just like a big FAI ship. I flew them for about three years. The only boom strikes that I had were from auto's. With 85g blades and the flapping head, I never got better than 1 boom strike in 10 autos.
