Yes but when your throttle linkage pops off your done! Just have to wait until it runs out of fuel and watch the destruction. Or go and throw a blanket over it and pull the fuel line off.
Another false statement meant as fact.

A throttle return spring is $2 and will kill the engine if the linkage pops off.

Your putting a constant load on the throttle servo thus slowing it down and wearing it out quickly. Horrible idea.

The spring puts about 1,000,000th of the stress on the servo that the rudder or rotor disc does.
And the rudder and main disc is a constant load.
Several ft/lbs of pressure.

I literally can't feel any resistance from the spring but I cannot move the tail blades manually by hand when spooled up.

Do some research before making such a ridiculous claim.

If you ever title something "This is why I don't like _______" fill in the blank with nitro or electric, there will be a fight. Just get the popcorn and enjoy the ride!

I edited the title so people don't have a war against electric vs Nitro.

Cool.
And by the way,no throttle return spring has ever hurt a servo and they are mandatory on ALL nitro and gas RC cars and trucks.

That means millions of them are in service and no one has ever had a problem with them.

Google it....Join some ground pounder forums.

I only take issue with false statements made to make something look bad.

The servo in my pic with the spring has been on every nitro heli I've ever had.

People need to do a little research before they start spreading bad info.

My favorite is the stress of that tiny spring burning up a servo but the stress of disc loading and 100mph backwards flight somehow magically spares the servos.

Yeah it is kind of funny thinking about at a spring with what 8 oz of pull or so? Most standard analog servos are 50oz minimum? I'm sure the nitro heli guys use digital, metal gears that are way more torque than that.
